"Lee Evans had both feet down with possession-that’s a TD. Game over Ravens win! Oh wait-its the Pats! Hmm the refs want to keep their cushy jobs don’t they? Incomplete!"

Wow, although it is difficult to decipher your third grade level grammar, it seems to me you are suggesting a conspiracy theory. Wow. That is so sad and pathetic. Adjust the rabbit ears in your trailer and look at it again with your good eye - the second foot wasn't down when the ball was dislodged. It was a good two inches from landing. Thus ends another promising broadcasting career. I beg you not to procreate.

Now where's my pizza?

musicman495 said: "looked to me in slo mo like the second foot touched down and the ball came out almost simultaneously."

You're right-it was close and anyone that says anything less clearly lacks objectivity and common sense. But the key word is "almost" simultaneously. Using standard DVR and HD, we found the frame where the ball is dislodged and his foot is still 2 inches from the ground. Live it was tough to see and god bless the official for getting it right. In slow motion there is simply no doubt he got it right.

Wegonnadoitbaby said: "I know the booth has to initiate a review inside of two minutes, and I can’t believe they didn’t look at the Lee Evans play. Maybe I don’t know the rules, BUT, full possession, both feet down, well past the plane of the end zone…should be touchdown…once two feet are down and you have possession I believe it is a touchdown and the play is over. What am I missing?"

What you are missing is reality. The second foot was not down when the ball became dislodged.

Some obvious answers for some stupid questions: The Ravens could not challenge the Moore play (it wasn't an "Evans drop" ... it was a great defensive play by Moore) because there was less than 2 minutes to play. The booth wouldn't automatically review it because it wasn't called a TD on the field (and thus was not a scoring play). They had the discretion to review it, and may have. But if you have it on tape with a quality video system, go frame by frame so you'll understand why it did not matter if it was reviewed. The ball is dislodged a fraction of a second before his second foot comes down. We froze it at that frame and it was as clear as day. I urge you to check it out so the Pats' D can get the much-deserved credit for this spectacular, season-saving play.

borderline1988 says:

Interesting to think about the 2 successful QBs in the championship games versus the unsuccessfull ones…
Brady & Manning vs Smith & Flacco…

At the end of the day, a QB who has presence and the ability to step up in the pocket, manage games, play under pressure, and make good decisions on the field….those are the guys who almost always win in the end.

Athletic ability, arm strength, running ability…all a bunch of smoke. Smarts and leadership – I’ll take that any day over the likes of Smith, Vick, Flacco, or Newton.

-----------------------

Except Flacco had a much better day than Brady today. He was more accurate, better in the pocket, better stats (same completion percentage but Flacco had more yards, more TDs, and fewer INTs, almost a 40-point-higher QB rating), etc. The QBs did not decide that game.

While I agree the field goal should have been made and there is no excuse for it - I still think a timeout should have been called. The field goal unit was late getting ready for that play - there was 1 second on the playclock when the ball was snapped. ergo, 1 second from being a delay of game penalty. For that reason alone a TO should have been called.

Interesting to think about the 2 successful QBs in the championship games versus the unsuccessfull ones...
Brady & Manning vs Smith & Flacco...

At the end of the day, a QB who has presence and the ability to step up in the pocket, manage games, play under pressure, and make good decisions on the field....those are the guys who almost always win in the end.

Athletic ability, arm strength, running ability...all a bunch of smoke. Smarts and leadership - I'll take that any day over the likes of Smith, Vick, Flacco, or Newton.

Sam Von Schamm says:
Jan 22, 2012 6:58 PM
Yes, the kicker missed a chip-shot FG, but that wasn’t the problem.

Joe Flacco is a modern day Neil O’Donnell.

It’s been obvious for years that like the Jets, the Ravens drafted a guy who is simply not a franchise QB.

-------------------------

Did you watch the game? Because I saw a game where Flacco outdueled Tom Brady, in Foxboro, in the playoffs. Had Evans not dropped that TD and had Cundiff not shanked a kick, the storyline would be "hey we were all wrong about Flacco, a game-winning drive at New England to get to the Super Bowl." But no, you're going to judge him based on the failings of others.

Not sarcasm on flacco, but yes my expectations were low. His receivers dropped many balls. He completed several third downs. He trailed most the day. Seam route int was briefly open. Amazing pick by spikes who had his back to the throw when it was made. Bottom line even game with both flacco and ne d exceeding expectations. Random ending.

Lee Evans had both feet down with possession-that's a TD. Game over Ravens win!

Oh wait-its the Pats! Hmm the refs want to keep their cushy jobs don't they? Incomplete!

Harbs can't throw the red flag inside of two minutes but the booth will review given the importance.

Wait there is no review! Pats Win!

2007 Perfect Pats beaten by Kyle Boller! Ravens stuff Brady on 4th down! Under two minutes-Ravens win!

Wait! Refs break the rules and allow Rex Ryan to call a timeout! Pats get a 5th down. Pats Win?

Harbs will say nothing or get hosed by the League office.

Watch the replay. Evans caught it. Game over.

This is a dumb complete second-guessing article. had the ravens called a timeout and he missed the FG, everyone, including this site, would be ripping Harbaugh (like they did to the cowboys) for icing their own kicker. It was an easy FG that the guy missed. Don't try to manufacture stories. (and this goes too for the story on the no replay on the Evans drop - it was a clear drop).

Just got home from AFC game. It was my dad's and I first year with the season tickets after 11 years on waiting list and to see the pats going to the SB is pretty cool. What a game. Ravens played tough and it really came down to mistakes. Flacco played well. This was there game to win with the mistakes made by the pats. I just think obviously the kicker buckled under pressure there. Would be surprised if he came back next year.

The Ravens can point finders at everyone on this loss. Why don't they try for a field goal on 4th and 6 instead of going for it? if they go for it, you assume they are relying on the D, and if that's the case punt it.

Then, Joe Flacco, put your shoulder down and run for the first down! it's 3rd and 1 and the season's on the line.

Then the rest is history.
