Checking in on Chicago’s vacant G.M. job

P. Emery

We passed along a report over the weekend that Chiefs director of college scouting Phil Emery was the favorite for the Bears G.M. job.

A report from CSNChicago.com emerged Monday that Emery was expected to get the job, but the Bears said via multiple reporters that the job hasn’t been offered to Emery yet. He’s still viewed as the favorite.

Emery has worked with Bears player personnel director Tim Ruskell before, so Ruskell may wind up keeping his job if Emery gets the gig.

UPDATE 6:35 p.m. ET: Sean Jensen reports Emery and New England’s Jason Licht are the only two men in the running.
