I said it before and I’ll say it again. These are behind the scene guys. The truth is nobody knows how much direct influence either of them has had concerning drafts. This is what we know as fact. When Licht was with the Pats, they went to the SB. When he was with the Eagles, they went to the SB. When he was with Arizona for one year, THEY went to the SB. Coincidence? I think not. Do the math. No wonder the Pats rehired them the first chance they got.

We don’t know how much say Emery had in any of those picks Furman. That’s the problem. He’s a career scout, not a GM. He’s described as a “grinder”. He isn’t young, up and coming, innovative or any of the other characteristics you might’ve hoped for in a new GM. He’s an old scout.

He wasn’t with the Chiefs when they drafted Flowers, Carr, Albert, and Bowe. He came in after Pioli. In fact he wasn’t even there for the Tyson Jackson draft (not really a bad thing for his resume at least).

This hire if true is a real shame. But it is the Bears way CHEAP!! Mark Ross from the giants is the right choice. Lets call this move if true Emery is Lovie’s Puppet . When the Bears go 4-12 next year and lovie and ted the “bean counter” phillips are cashiered out then we will see if what emery can do.

Emery will have his work cut out for him proving to Bears fans that he is a good hire. Personnel moves in KC haven’t exactly been the greatest.

I hope the first thing he does is fire Ruskell. Then sign Forte to a reasonable contract or tag him. I like Forte a lot, but running backs not named Adrian Peterson are not worth a ton of money these days. Even AP might not be the same after that nasty knee injury..,
