During last night’s epic NFC title game, reports popped up out of nowhere that a coach from a college program that played for the NCAA title just last year could be making the jump to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

And as quickly as it all arose, it has now disappeared.

Adam Jude of the Eugene Register-Guard reports that Kelly-to-Tampa was a done deal, and then Kelly had a change of heart late last night. (Lots of people will be taking credit for this one, but Jude had the story posted nearly four hours ago.)

Kelly likely isn’t pleased with the reports of a possible departure, given the impact it will have both in the short-term and the long-term on recruiting. His rivals now will be able to argue that Kelly has his eyes on the NFL, and that it’s just a matter of time before he goes.

But he’s not going yet, which means that the Buccaneers will at a minimum have to move on to Plan B.
