Peyton's done...if he's smart and I think he is, he'll retire and pursue a coaching career or broadcasting. He's had 3 neck surgeries over the last year, why take the risk and play if you're one crunching hit or sack away from a wheelchair ?
Come on Peyton, you've had a HOF career and will be in on the first ballot...no question. If you really want a Manning right now, by all means it would be Eli, who won't be available for quite some time yet. Come to your senses people, Peyton is done...if it was a question of taking the $28 Million or enjoying the rest of my life on my own two feet instead of a possible chair....I'll take that first option every time....

If Manning is healthy enough to play, write the Dolphins out of the equation.

Snyder finally has a GM and coaching staff that will not stand by trading away picks and paying large amounts of money to over the hill free agents while mortgaging the future so you can write them out.

You can also write out Patriots, Giants, Panthers, Packers, Steelers, Texans, Falcons, Ravens, Lions, Saints, Bears, and Chargers.

I can't see Titans (Locker), Rams (Bradford), or Minnesota (Ponder + fans expectations to develop future QB instead of placing band-aids) signing up for him.

My Guess would be 49ers (they were a better QB away from the Super Bowl this year), or the Cowboys (this move has Jerry Jones move written all over it).

My wildcard is the Broncos. It may be Elway's way of moving on from Tebow without fully admitting he is not in support of him.

Can somebody please tell me what is so wrong with Matt Moore? Sure he’s not ELITE, but only a few are. As the Niners proved, your QB doesn’t have to be elite, just good. I swear to god, Moore better get a fair shake this offseason.

And for the love of god, NO MANNING!

I say this is all a moot point because I don't think he ever takes a snap again. Something just tells me he is done. And it wasn't Rob Lowe! I don't think he will risk his long-term health. I bet he retires and then stays with the Colts in some coaching capacity for a few years, before becoming the head coach in three to six years. Just my opinion.

To all the morons out there that think Miami wouldn't vet Manning prior to offering a contract are ridiculous. No trade will happen as Indy will only pay him or cut him......period! Also, upon the conclusion of the physical, Miami would still incentivize his contract and place a clause that allows Miami to recoup monies if he was to miss starts! Manning will only entice teams to sign him if workouts go well! Taking one doctor's opinion of his health won't happen and Manning will only get a two year deal at best! Arizona and Washington have porous lines and no running game! Miami could still draft a QB in the first round and develop him as the rookie salary cap makes it easier for teams to avoid trading down and adding big name free agents. Most of you don't know what the hell you are talking about! Go Fins!

Way to go Stephen Ross! Give Indy more reason to want to trade him to you rather than just release him. It's fine if you want to outbid everyone for his services (it's only your money). Instead give Matt Moore or Matt Flynn more weapons and we may be relevant for more than just a year.

Presuming Manning can play without a reasonable expectation of injury, don't you think that a team like the Redskins or the Cowboys might be interested too? I mean, a healthy Peyton Manning can write his own contract with 90% of the teams in this league. My guess is that a Healthy Peyton Manning never leaves the Colts.

I think we will be lucky to find a good group of assistant coaches and hire an overpaid Matt Flynn. We need to find at least one Free agent Offensive lineman too. These moves would allow us to draft Corner backs. I would like us to move Sean Smith to safety and go to a 4-3 with Wake and Burnett outside and Dansby in the middle. We really need to resign Soliai and Langford, both very marketable free agents.

I imagine that the "Source" for this leak is someone in marketing who is trying to bump sales a little! There are people stupid enough to buy tickets based on a rumor that Peyton Manning is coming to town. Remember, every ticket they don't sell at retail price ends up being sold to the networks for 34% of the face value. If you want to show the Dolphins that you are not happy, then don't buy those tickets.

First the Cardinals “will go after Peyton Manning” if he’s available, now the Dolphins “will go after Peyton Manning” if he’s available.

Riddle me this: what team that needs a QB would NOT go after Peyton Manning if he’s available?

---------
Answer to riddle: Any rebuilding team. If you are rebuilding, you need a lot of pieces. You can't afford to trade pieces to get him, nor can you afford to tie up salary with him.
And, even if "healthy" now, he might be one hit away from being finished. Why take that gamble, unless you are only a QB upgrade away from a playoff run? That limits the potential teams to those with a solid defense, OL, and at least one decent WR.

Three neck surgeries in the last year and a half, and Peyton still isn't close to being right. (If he was on the road to recovery, we would have heard about it in stereo by now.) Does anyone here really believe that the Colts will pay him $28 million without any clear evidence that he can play again? No way - they will release him before that happens, and Peyton and his agent have surely been told as much.

Sometime after the Super Bowl, Peyton will have the opportunity to retire with dignity, and with his legacy intact. Let's hope he takes it.

Meh, as a Dolphins fan I'd rather get a guy who will be a starter for the next 15 years then another stopgap. This will also handicap us in signing guys like Nicks who would be amazing for the Dolphins or re-signing guys like Soliai. Not to mention, extending Cameron Wake which should be done. It's a huge risk, and I don't know if the opportunity cost is worth it.

marinephinfan says: Jan 23, 2012 8:29 AM

Brady “destroys” Manning? HAHAAHAH!! The Patriots have usually had the better teams, but the Colts, since Manning was drafted, have ALWAYS had the better QB. Did you like Brady’s 57 QBR last night?
-------------------------------------------------
Brady 16-5 in playoffs; P Manning 9-10.

Manning has almost always had better offensive talent around him, and in most of those 10 losses the Colts were favored to win.

QBRs are for losers. The Ravens have a great defense and Brady didn't play well. But when the ravens went up by 4 in the 4th quarter, Brady led that Patriots down the field and despite a phenomenal goal line stand by the Ravens carried twice, the second time over the top, sacrificing himself for the TD with ray Lewis making him pay. So much for "pretty boy."

Games like yesterday are when you'd see the familiar Peyton with both hands on his helmet, shaking his head. Brady is resilient, like the rest of the Patriots.

Keep your QBR's, I'll take the W's.

Can we just say that every team except a few teams (Saints, Packers, Giants, Steelers, Patriots, Texans, Lions, and Eagles) are interested in Manning.

Without making ridiculous claims and insulting teams with a permanant option at QB, your list of teams with no need for a QB is small. Whether people like it or not a lot of teams are set at QB. The teams that need a QB are Washington, Seattle, Arizona, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Miami, and Indianapolis. The teams that may upgrade are the Jets, Kansas City, Tampa Bay, and Denver. Thats 11 total teams out of 32 that need a QB upgrade, leaving RG3, Luck and Matt Flynn in great shape. And if Miami does go after Manning, Henne would be a good pickup if he stays healthy.
