Antrel Rolle on Eli’s speech, Jerry Maguire, and Brazilian midgets

The next two weeks are going to be a little different for the Giants and Patriots, no matter how much they try to make it normal.

This first week of practice before the teams arrive in Indianapolis is an easy time to lose focus. Players are working out travel and ticket arrangements, and the game is still far away.

With that in mind, Eli Manning made a rare speech in from of his Giants teammates. The message?

“It’s all about business. Let’s take care of it,” as relayed by Giants safety Antrel Rolle to the media Tuesday.

Perhaps more than any other Giant, Rolle figures to enjoy the spotlight of the big game. It’s because you are never quite sure what he’s going to say next.

Rolle on where he watched the Giants and Patriots play the Super Bowl in 2008: Sitting on a barstool in Brazil with “probably a midget under me.”

Rolle on his first reaction after getting drafted by the Cardinals: “Like Jerry Maguire?”

On wearing white uniforms for the Super Bowl: “We can go out there bare-skinned” and the result would be the same.

It’s going to be a fun two weeks. Or we’ll be ready for the game by Monday.

Make sure to be diligent in your work, no mistakes. Dot every I and cross every T and don’t forget to use spellcheck…..

You mean in FRONT of his teammates right?

  2. Next time you interview Rolle be sure to ask him if he’d still rather be talking for a coach like Rex or still PLAYING for a coach like TC.

  3. Since the two week layoff is boring as hell, and you can’t pay me to watch the Pro Bowl, could you dig deeper and get the full story on the Brazilian midget. That’s probably the only chance at entertainment we have between now and the kickoff.

But he spelled “from” right, so spell check might just miss that one. Also, how is he supposed to “Dot every I” when you give him a capital I? Nice try though grammar police…

  5. I hope the Patriots win, just so Antrelle Rolle will finally shut up. Assuming he would learn to shut up, of course.

Oh, and Brandon Jacobs too. I’m sure he’ll say something asinine between now and the SB.

  6. Actually Davis didn’t burn anyone. On the first td Antrel Rolle was looking at Alex Smith all he way and Davis was behind him and that was that. Hard to run him down. Then Phillips thought that he would have help over the top, even though the Corey Webster was playing as if it was Cover 3 and he was assigned the deep middle.

  7. “east96st, might I suggest the Royal Rumble? This Sunday night on pay per view!”

Haven’t watched wrestling in decades. Only so many different variations you can make on bad guy “wins” big match by cheating until good guy can make “miraculous” comeback to beat bad guy in even bigger match. Now, if they started to feature Brazilian midgets, they might have something there.

You do know that rolle has a weekly radio show on a NY sports station right? Kind of hard for him to shut up when he’s on the radio. It’s very easy to get sound bites from him every week when his job is to talk on the show. It’s easy to grab some negative things or put one liners in each week so people like you clever bob can sound off, but most of his show is boring. It’s not like he runs to the media each week. clever bob.

  9. Giants aren’t the lovable scrappy underdogs anymore, they are the arrogant blowhard New York team that the entire media has jumped on bandwagon-wise.

Patriots will be more focused on revenge and will thrash the Giants.

  10. Not a fan of either team, but why are the Giants so easy to hate? Right down to that pip-squeak QB. “Look at me I’m elite! really, look at me!”

Having the benefit of not living in the NY metro area, and not being a fan of the Giants, I was unaware that he has a weekly soapbox. It must be truly illuminating stuff. Anthony Kornheiser.
