Dummy where were you the entire season? Nolan is gone, and so be it, he couldn’t get his defense to play pee-wee ball for 8 weeks. And our O? Our O coordinator (Daboll) ROCKED!!!! He posted more 4th quarter points than any powerhouse O in the league… just look it up.

Well, this guy won’t want the old regimes coaches… Miami seems to be the only team in the league that tries to force coordinators down the throat of new hires. It doesn’t work out… get over it, let Bowles get a DC job on another team – he deserves it.

I told you the defense would suffer badly next year. Only someone who didn’t have a clue about putting together a defensive staff would hire from one of the worst organizations in the league. Shouldn’t fix what wasn’t broken.

Ignore Taskalucy. It’s a troll and sad it lives in CLE where LeBron couldn’t get out of that hellhole fast enough and the Hear even took Norris Cole, a CLE boy. CLE sucks. They could have picks 1-5 in the draft and still find a way to screw it up.

Tashkalucy, what exactly is your evidence that the Browns are building “correctly”? The fact that Mike Holmgren’s name is attatched to the front office? It sure looked like Miami was being built “correctly” a few years back under Parcells.

Actually, Holmgren’s career trajectory is shaping up quite similar to Parcells, i.e., great coach who gets diminishing results with each subsequent stop. Holmgren won a Super Bowl in GB, lost the Super Bowl in Seattle, so now… what exactly is left for Browns fans, except for the knowledge that Holmgren isn’t using his greatest strength (i.e., being a head coach) to helping the Browns win games?

Last I checked Holmgren wasted a year by keeping Mangini, hired a new first time HC who has proved nothing, hasn’t found a franchise QB, or a dominant receiver/TE, or a decent RB… you get the picture.

I’m not saying Miami is in a much better spot, and yes, Cleveland did beat the Phins this year, but there is better talent on both sides of the ball.

Neither team will amount to much until the QB issue is solved. But to surmise that Cleveland is in better hands… that may yet turn out to be the case, but we haven’t seen it yet. As Dolphins fans have repeatedly found out (Jimmy Johnson, Nick Satan, Bill Parcells), a big name in charge is only guarantees one thing- a big name in charge.

Sherman goes to the Browns as an OC (if he doesn’t get the Bucs job) because he’ll have an owner that stays out of the football end and is letting Sherman’s friend – Mike Holmgren – run the organization.

All the Dolphins have to offer is the HC that Sherman knows some, as well as an owner that is putting himself in he same category as Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder – and like the Dolphins, the Cowboys and Redskins watch the playoffs at home every year.

The Browns are building correctly, Sherman would fit perfectly. And if Pat Shurmur doesn’t evolve into a quality NFL HC, then Sherman can be promoted to the job.

The Dolphins are a dead end for him.

As a Bengals fan, I wish teams would make a decision on Zimmer (or Zimmer on a team) so we know whether we need a DC.
I can’t Mike Brown letting both Zimmer AND Coyle go in the same year.
If both of those guys leave this late in the game we are going to be left to comb the scrap heap for coaches!

Any front office with a functioning brain amongst them lets the head coach be in charge of key staff choices. He has to have people with whom he is philosophically in tune and can easily work with. Its his job on the line if they screw up so he’d better have someone he knows was his own choice and not a left-over.
Owners who want to meddle in this area need to have the IRS consider their personal investment a hobby instead of a business.

I’ve been a big fan of Ben McAdoo’s work in GB. With the exception of Finley’s case of the dropsies this season, he’s generally maximized the talent he’s been given.

However, I think the best choice of a first-time HC is to hire at least one coordinator with previous HC experience, which would be Mike Sherman.
