Well before we get too crazy about this hire anyone remember our old offensive coordinator Bruce Arians? He kinda sucked here. Then went to Pittsburgh and looked pretty good.i think there is a negativity that is the Cleveland Browns..we need a change like a helmet change, a name change and a color change.. Look at all the teams that have done that and the end results..Tampa bay,new England,Denver even the titans.. We should have let modell keep the colors.. Think dumb? Look at the results.6 super bowl titles between them to 0..grown men don’t want to run around in orange uniforms and goofy lookin uniforms.. They want to look tough..just consider it. A new mentality and a new uniform..maybe a new name.i had thought about this before I heard triv mention it and he is right

Pretty much the whole thing is a good old boys network for Holmgrens friends to set them up when he retires in the next year or so. Holmgren and Lamonte have been friends since teaching together a long time ago. Randy Learner gave him the keys, I hope he likes how he’s driving…

I think that with Holmgren’s knowledge of offense, he tells Chilly to allow the QB to audible when the defense has stacked the box. THat was the biggest problem he had with Farve when he was in Minnesota, but Farve had more clout than Colt will here.

If you think that Holmgren is an idiot, look at the ring on his finger and what he did with the Seahawks. Furthermore, Brad Childress got the Vikes to the NFC Championship game. He has problems dealing with ego’s., RE: Randy Moss, but is knweldgeable with X’s and O’s. I am a long time Browns fan and, beleieve me, have not seen much since they returned. However, you need to give a new regime more than 3 years… Holmgren knows what he is doing, trust me.

Hiring Chilly would be a positive thing. This may sound like faint praise, but he’ll be better than nothing — and nothing is what we had last season.

Save your apology’s this will be a good hire. Childress was very successful as an O.C. He may not have been a very good HC, but that is not what the browns are hiring him for. Anyone would be an upgrade from Shurmur handling that job. Anytime you can surround your young head coach with former HC’s with experience, that is not a bad thing. I’ll reserve judment until after the end of next season. The Browns, and Bengals will be dominating the AFC North within the next years, as obviously the Steelers are old and own a downslide, and the Ravens D is on it’s last leg, Ray Ray and Reed will be retiring by 2014. Things will be looking good soon Browns Fans!

Chilly was not the greatest HC, but he was actually a pretty good OC with the Eagles. Hey, even Josh McDaniels was a bad HC, and didn’t his offense finish last in the NFL with the Rams last year? Now, he is replacing O’Brien as the OC in NE!

Browns fans, here’s an honest opinion from a long-time Viking fan. Klink is a hard-working, knowledgeable and decent man. However, he: (1) has never been the sole OC (Reid was in Philly); (2) consistently refuses to adjust his system to his personnel; (3) is poor at making game-day adjustments; (4) always battled veteran QBs due to his inability to relinquish on-field control/audibles; and (5) lacks any semblance of creativity. My condolences.

As a Steeler and Viking fan (from South Dakota) this is a great signing for the Steelers and the rest of the AFC North. This guy will do nothing to help the Browns get to the top of the division, let alone the AFC.

as much as i dislike chili and his mindset, this may actually work out, just keep him away from making personnel decisions or you may be going thru 10 qb’s in 3 years. his x’s & o’s are good, but his “my way or highway” attititude made locker room devisive and lost control of team. Just give him one job to do & let him do it, but dont let him talk to players or make personell decisions. If Holmgren keeps him (and his ego) in check, it may work. Hopefully Holmgren can keep him from wanting to draft a qb every year.

p.s. – thank you cleveland for taking him off Mr. Wilfs payroll.

He let that lockeroom get so far out of control, it wasn’t even funny. I guess as an OC, that may not be his responsibility. Thats real good, because he will need time to come up with a run play, another run play, and a check down play for -3 yards. Those are not all that easy to draw up. Have fun Browns fans. I feel for you. I’m a Viking season ticket holder.

As a Browns fan, I am seriously curious why so many here are trashing Chilly. I agree he seemed to be ill-suited as a head coach, but as an OC, he seems to have an impressive track record. Any reason for the hate besides his personality?

As a Browns fan, and it hurts me to say this, Chilly can only be an improvement over what we saw last year. I’d even take him as a head coach over Shurmur, who will prove himself to be the worst coach in the league now that Caldwell is out in Indy.

Childress is a bad head coach but he is a good oc, let’s not forget he was the oc of philly when they lost 3 nfc championship games and a super bowl. I’m sure Browns fans would be happpy with a wild card berth let alone a afc championship berth

“Maybe Sherman can convince the Browns to drop the talk of replacing McCoy and get them some offensive players to support the winningist college QB until that short guy from Boise played four years in order to break McCoy’s record.

Sherman is very aware of what McCoy did when he was at A&M. Cleveland needs lots more offensive help than at QB and Shurnur proved he can’t call an offensive game with no blockers and a disgruntled RB.”

Geez, Chilly? Talk about a factory of sadness. . . The Cleveland front office should be embarrassed to not set their sights a little higher than that.
