The Vikings hold the third overall pick in the draft. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll use the third overall pick in the draft.
"[W]e’ll be looking at all the options,” G.M. Rick Spielman said Wednesday on NFL Network. “If someone wants to come up and get our pick, we’re going to be more than willing to listen.”
Spielman predictably sidestepped the question of whether the Vikings have a bigger need for a left tackle (Matt Kalil) or a receiver (Justin Blackmon), saying only that “we know we’ll be getting a very good player at No. 3.”
And then he added “if we stay there.”
It doesn’t mean the Vikings wants to trade. They’re just keeping all options open -- and in turn keeping everyone guessing.
The trade value of the third overall pick hinges on whether the Rams decide to use the No. 2 selection, or to trade it to a team that wants the quarterback who remains on the board after the Colts take Andrew Luck of Robert Griffin III.
