miniappleman says: Jan 27, 2012 3:34 PM

Chilly was a good coach in MN. Until the last season when Favre let us down he had improved each year…6 wins 8 wins, 10 wins. He might not have had the personality to be a head coach, but he has the smarts to be a solid coordinator.

Uhm, let's remember he took the exact same team Mike Tice had at 9-7 and made them 6-10. Just sayin'.

This is as much Bob Lamonte's team as Holmgren's. Lamonte and holmgren are long time friends since their teaching days. Holmes is leaving things set up so when he retires everyone is taken care of financially.

Everyone with power is a client of Lamonte: Holmgren, Heckert, Shurmer (sp?), Chilly, and senior advisor Gil Haskill (sp?). Lerner (sp?) thought he was letting holmgren run the team but with no oversight or accountability, LaMonte is running the show. LaMonte pushed for the same structure in Seattle so he could do the same thing and Paul Allen didn't like it AT ALL. DOn't hte peopel in Cleveland know what is really going on here?

To Vikings fans: You brought your poor season upon yourselves by moaning whining and crying for Brett Favre to come to Minnesota. The guy cost Eric Mangini his job in New York (another good coach who’s poor season can be blamed 100% on the aging QB). Look at your teams record with Childress as head coach and look at your teams record now. Pat Schurmer was a HORRIBLE play caller in Cleveland on a team with nowhere near as many weapons as the Vikings and they STILL had a better record.

To Browns fans: Last year you picked up another former head coach that fans of their former team whined about in Dick Jauron and the result was the Browns defense ended the season as one of the top defenses in the league. Considering you’re coming off a season with no offensive coordinator which followed a season with Brian Daboll getting OJT as an offensive coordinator this is a HUGE step in the right direction. Especially since the Browns don’t need to score 30 points to win a game.

One, The team was way more exciting before Chilly showed up. At least with Tice the team was fun to watch. Chilly showed up and the 4 yard flat pass when you need 8 was invented in Minnesota. Two, "Mangenius" it seems got his ass fired in Cleveland too. Must not be that good of a coach. Three, year one of Favre was a great success when Brett took over calling the plays after halftime in Chicago halfway through the season. If not for Chilly throwing Tahi under the buss for sending him into the huddle for a twelve man in the huddle penalty which forced the Vikes to make another play they didn't need too and in patented Favre through an INT to end his greatest season statistically and the Vikes the Super Bowl. In year two, Favre was done. He played one year too long. Childress got fired because he wanted Moss and he cut him without even consulting the owner. That's why Chilly was fired along with his inept Kick-Ass Offense.

Gotta love the Bengals fans chiming in. The Bengals- a team that has been "good" about 5 times in their 45 year history. A team who has won just as many SBs as the Browns. A team that reaches the playoffs in a fluke and is immediately destroyed and sent home. It's like they were never even there.

Bengals fans making fun of the Browns or their fans is like someone missing their right arm and right leg making fun of someone else who is missing their left arm and left leg. Of course, most of 'em are far too stupid to realize this...

Sounds like the majority of the commenters are all at the same 5th grade sleepover.

Mcnabb....yes, MCNABB, did pretty well with him at OC. The Vikings came within a Favre INT of the Super Bowl. He was fired for cutting Randy Moss without checking with Ziggy. Better than average defense in MN you say? The Browns' young defense finished 10th in the league.

But dont let facts get in the way of your LULZ!

Great Hire! Childress was very successful as an OC. He will also be in Cleveland. Love all the "poor man's Seinfelds" posting comments here. 1 out of 40 are actually witty. But really save your apologys to Cleveland fans. We don't need them, as we are a team on the rise. With Young talent in place, many early round draft picks we will be dominating the AFC north within 2 seasons. Stoolers are old, Ratbirds D is done, Bungles fluke ( and you have a ginger for QB), Looking good to be a Browns fan , and it's about time.

Great Hire! Childress was very successful as an OC. He will also be in Cleveland. Love all the “poor man’s Seinfelds” posting comments here. 1 out of 40 are actually witty. But really save your apologys to Cleveland fans. We don’t need them, as we are a team on the rise. With Young talent in place, many early round draft picks we will be dominating the AFC north within 2 seasons. Stoolers are old, Ratbirds D is done, Bungles fluke ( and you have a ginger for QB), Looking good to be a Browns fan , and it’s about time. Regards ” The Factory of Fear”

With the addition of Childress, the Browns have likely assembled the best coaching staff in the league.

Think about it 3 former head coaches with one goal, the Super Bowl. Watch out for this team!

Totally riduclous and false assessment. Chili built up the Vikings roster through free agency and the draft and got that team to within a bad Favre pass of the Super Bowl. Favre played “within” Chili’s system. Sure he had the ability to check out of a certain play, but when you audible, you’re still opertating within the framework of the play. That’s what veteran QBs do, they spot tells in the defense and then roll with the best play to attack that defense. It’s not like he was out there drawing up plays in the dirt for crying out loud.

...unless you happen to be fortunate enough to play for Mr. Martz who doesn't allow his QBs to audible!

dolphins4 says:

Chilly did a good job in Philly. He was the offensive coordinator when the Eagles went to the Super Bowl.Cleveland just needs a good QB and some play making wide receivers.

--------------------------

Yea, but what did he do besides occupy space on the sideline? Reid called the plays.

What has he done in this league to warrant even being in it as a ball boy?
