Eighteen years after coaching him, Rex Ryan plans to hire Karl Dunbar for his coaching staff.

The Jets have offered Dunbar their defensive line coach position, and Dunbar is expected to accept, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.

Dunbar was a defensive lineman for the Cardinals in 1994 and 1995, when Ryan was the Cardinals’ defensive line coach and his dad, Buddy Ryan, was their head coach.

The Jets may move current defensive line coach Mark Carrier, a former NFL safety, to another position. Dunbar has spent the last six seasons as defensive line coach of the Vikings, but he will not return to Minnesota this season.
