Frank McCourt has made it clear the parking lots and surrounding land at Dodger Stadium can be sold for a higher purchase price. This is a negotiating ploy (smart move by Frank making the lots a seperate entity) to get over $1.5 billion for the Dodgers. You think developers like Rick Caruso ( see the Grove shopping mall in L.A.) and Stan Kroenke would be bidding just for the team? This is about the team, stadium, surrounding land and the billion dollar TV deal.

That's the problem, docboss. AEG wants huge percentages of revenue from the stadium project and no NFL team will agree to fork over that much money let alone give AEG a piece of their team. The buy-in for a new NFL team will be gigantic for AEG because the NFL knows AEG will make lots of money.

Also-- McCourt owns Dodger Stadium and the surrounding lots through his real estate companies.

He looks like Snidely Whiplash. The Dodger deal is brilliant if it gives Stan the real estate he needs to build his own stadium for the LA Rams. All Stan must do is pay off the principals in the STL dome deal. Give them a few million for the unused two years on the lease and go. How does the Dodger stadium/parking/development look to LA folks? Is this a good place for a football stadium? Just asking.
---------------------------------------------------------

First off, any potential buyer of the Dodgers is only buying the team. They don't get the parking lot nor do they get the real estate in Chavez Ravine.

Secondly, AEG is finalizing a deal to build a domed stadium in Downtown LA, right next to Staples Center, LA Live and the new Ritz-Carlton Marriott. There will be ample parking but better yet, a subway stop exist right near the complex.

The new stadium will not only support at least one NFL team, it will also be the site of Final Four's and more. There's hope that someday soon, a downtown baseball stadium is built as well.

Don’t go to LA. They’ve had their shot and failed. Terrible sports town. Just turrible.

Wow, just another clueless person that doesn't know anything about the L.A. situation.

Just so you know, the Rams sold out for more than 30 years at the old Coliseum. They had been owned by Jim Irsay but in 1972, Irsay and then owner Carol Rosenblum swapped franchises. After Rosenblum's death (some say murder), Georgia Frontiere got a "sweetheart deal" from Anaheim and bailed.

When the Anaheim deal went sour, Frontiere got another "sweetheart deal", this time from St. Louis. Now, there's hope that Kroenke returns the team to Los Angeles.

As for the Raiders, that was the Raiders.

Maybe Kroenke believes that there will not be football in LA for a long time, and therefore wont have to worry about cross-ownership rules – both LA stadium proposals are fatally flawed
===============

Cross ownership rules have nothing to do with cities- just leagues.

Kroenke's family already owns the Colorado Avalanche AND the Nuggets in addition to the Rams.

To circumvent the cross-ownership rule, he "transferred" ownership of the two Denver teams to his son.

It's the most flimsy, easily gotten around rules in sports and certainly has zero to do with whatever Kroenke's up to here.

So, by that argument there should be no NFL teams in:

St. Louis
Baltimore
Cleveland
Houston
Oakland

Those teams all "had their shot and failed", yet still got another team.

The two teams that "failed" in LA were owned by Al Davis, who was more concerned with poking the NFL in the eye over and over again than with business, and Georgia Frontiere, a night club singer who managed, in her FIFTH MARRIAGE, to land a husband who owned an NFL team, and used to force her front office people to make draft and personnel decisions based upon Tarot Card readings and Horoscopes.

This is a foolish argument based upon little understanding of the facts.

If St. Louis or Minnesota or Jacksonville or even San Diego moved into a new, state-of-the-art, luxury box filled stadium in downtown LA, the value of the franchise would DOUBLE overnight.

That's why one of these franchises moving there is an absolute foregone conclusion.

If the NFL wants to put another team in L.A., I suggest moving the Packers there. I'm not a Bears, Vikings or Lions troll, just a football fan. Moving the Packers from the cornfields to a major market city would then require them to play by the same rules as the other 31 teams. Examples....why can the Packers raise additional revenue by selling worthless paper but the other 31 teams can't do it? (This additional revenue stream is also protected from revenue sharing with the other 31 teams). Why can Packer players jump up into the crowd after a TD but Vernon Davis and his team are penalized for his jumping up on a TV stand? Why can A.Rodgers be allowed to wear a skirt during games but Ben Rothlesberger can get the hell beat out of him? I don't care what sport we're talking about, but there should never be different rules for different teams. Send the Packers to L.A. and let them play by the same rules as the 31 other teams.

Stan Kroenke buying the Dodgers makes perfect sense. He'll own that land ( yes he'll buy the parking lots from McCourt) and be able to build a football stadium at Chavez Ravine. It's no secret the NFL has coveted that site for years ever since Peter O'Malley proposed to build a football stadium up there in the 90's. He can move the Rams back to where they belong and be a hero. He'll be able to develop the land around Dodger Stadium. Oh and the reason L.A. lost it's teams was because of a lack of a modern football stadium and bad ownership in Al Davis and Georgia Frontiere. L.A. is a great sports town and whoever says otherwise is just jealous. Even the freakin Clippers are selling out games. We just won't put up with a losing franchise or bad ownership. Kroenke buying the Dodgers makes perfect sense!

What does MLB have against Mark Cuban? If they had any doubts what kind of owner he would be, just look at his basketball team. He's not cheap, he's not using it for his own personal ATM and he's not making stupid moves that endanger the team's competitiveness or bottomline. Sure he could do a little better at keeping his mouth shut sometimes but he has calmed down since the earlier years and he isn't as bad as some of the current owners they have now.
