A man who tutored Colts quarterback Peyton Manning will now try to help out the quarterback who plays in the city from whence the Colts came.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that former Colts head coach and, before that, quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell will join the Ravens, presumably as quarterbacks coach.
In all, Caldwell worked for 10 years with Manning. He’ll join a staff that produced his replacement in Indy, former Ravens defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano.
Caldwell’s arrival could prompt some Ravens fans to clamor for a possible upgrade at the quarterback position, from Joe Flacco to Peyton Manning. Though highly unlikely, a healthy Manning teamed with a defense sporting Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs and Ed Reed would give Baltimore a team that would be the odds-on favorite to go to the Super Bowl.
The move comes after Caldwell met with the Steelers, presumably in connection with the offensive coordinator vacancy in Pittsburgh. Caldwell has never served as an offensive coordinator at the NFL level.
