Awesome, now Bruce Arians gets to arrest Andrew Luck’s development. And yeah, I know that he coached Peyton Manning, but he was just the QB coach; he wasn’t designing or calling the plays. There’s a big difference. Arians might be fine as a QB coach, but he failed as an offensive coordinator. There’s a reason why the Steelers chose not to renew his contract.

Censors, Ben Roethlisberger was accused of rape by a woman whose medical exam showed she didn’t even have intercourse, which is why no charges were filed. And he was sued in civil court by a woman who texted all over the place that she wanted to see him again. Please tell me why it’s fine and dandy for stevebozeman and every other clown on PFT to damn him for events that never occurred but not okay for me to ask about the rape suit against Colts player Eric Foster? Bit of a double standard where Steelers players are concerned, wouldn’t you say?

Oh, baloney… I’ve been saying it here in the comment section since Manning’s secret trip to Europe for that experimental stem cell procedure. Anybody with three brain cells knows the Colts aren’t going to spend $28,000,000 on an old QB with major neck issues. There is no story here.

17 1st-round quarterbacks were the opening day starter last season. That number does not include Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder, Carson Palmer , Jake Locker, Vince Young or Tim Tebow, each of whom took over the starting role (Matt Leinart did as well, but it was for about 30 minutes) during the season. Another 3 (Kolb, Dalton, Brees) were picked very early in the second round. It also doesn’t include the injured Peyton Manning.

The only quarterbacks who you could argue were truly late picks that came out of nowhere are Brady, Romo, Hasselback, Fitzpatrick and Cassel, only one of which is elite. Only one mid-round pick, Matt Schaub, has been successful.

Is it sometimes difficult to determine who will be Peyton Manning and who will be Ryan Leaf? Yes. But if you are looking for the next Tom Brady in the 5th and 6th rounds, you’re more likely to end up with Dan Orlovsky than Matt Flynn.

When BA left Pittsburgh, I was blasted for politely suggesting he should be careful about running his mouth too much with his new employers. Hello? Didn’t take him long to prove my point.

It doesn’t matter if “everyone knows” they’re drafting Andrew Luck. It’s common sense not to vomit all your plans to the press. But common sense isn’t necessarily BA’s strong suit when it comes to play-calling, reining in a prima donna QB, or letting his tongue gallop three yards ahead of his brain.

I wouldnt read that much into the comments, even if Peyton is toast as a Colt.

In the post it says he was his QB coach from 98 to 2000.

If anything Arians should improve our running game which will help any QB.

Nobody coached Manning …. he was the QB, OC and QB coach. He is to the offense as Deion Sanders was to the defense …. he let you concentrate your coaching on other things. That’s why they brought in Dungy to shore up the defense.

FYI – if he did coach the QB’s in Indy ….. what happened to the others … i.e. Jim Sorgi and other nameless hopefuls?

Come to the Steelers Peyton (as O.C. …. we need what’s inside that head!!!

Drafting a QB number 1 overall is a flip of the coin at best. For all the Elways, Aikmans, Mannings – there are just as many Georges, Couchs and Carrs. Obviously Andrew Luck has everything you could ever ask for from a College QB entering the NFL, but I would cool down the excitement a splash there Indy…… You have had a First Ballot Hall of Fame QB who played at a level over the last 10 years that is second to none in the history of the NFL. From last years embarassment of a season the point was driven home 14 times (through brutal losses) that Peyton covered up the Colts lack of talent for almost a decade.

Wipe off the smiles Arians and hope like hell that Andrew Luck is 75% of what Peyton Manning was. Oh and I have a feeling Mr. Manning may be printing off some of these quotes and remembering them as he throws one TD after another in a different uniform next year.

If he had said “rookie QB” then you sort of have a story. But Arians is new to the Colts, and unless Big Ben is traded to the Colts, he has to obviously has a “new QB” whether it’s Luck or Manning.
