Getty ImagesWell, that didn’t take long.
Albert Breer of NFL Network reports that the league fined Osi Umenyiora $20,000 for skipping Wednesday morning’s media session. Umenyiora was back at a team meeting this afternoon, so it doesn’t appear to be a major concern.
It’s believed the league set a record time between infraction and penalty. New York’s media availability ended at 11:30 a.m. ET. The fine came less than two hours later.

Goodell’s hall monitors don’t play.
If he didn’t have diarrhea this morning, he’s damn sure crappin his pants now.
Yeha, he has nothing else to worry about this week (rolls eye)
Where was he?
The Red Garter?
I’ve heard all fine money goes into goodell’s Swiss bank account.
Ridiculous, $20k for skipping a media session, $7500 for wearing the wrong colored socks and $5k for kicking someone in the groin. League fines are a joke.
This guy get paid a huge amount of money and the league wants him at media day. Fine him his Super Bowl pay amount and maybe he will show up and quit being such a prima donna!
Cha ching! $20k! Its officially a story.
silly fines like THIS is why Goodell got a 10 year extension? NFL-Numerous Fining League
$20k to skip the mess that is media day? That’s money well spent. Now that the standard has been set I would imagine more guys will take advantage of the fine. After all, Osi now has a $20k write off on his taxes AND he missed questions like “what’s your favorite ice cream?” from some Korean news source.
I’m telling ya, that’s how these union companies work. You might get paid the coin, but they will OWN your ass in the mean time!
How much are the Jets going to be fined? I haven’t seen any of them all week. That’s no way for the “Soon To Be Champions” to act.
Guess he doesn’t need a new contract. If he’s shrugging off a fine he can’t be hurting for money too badly.
Aren’t you people tired of whining about the fines handed out by the NFL yet?
Face it, the fines are here to stay. The players know the rules and what is expected of them. The fines that the vast majority of the players get is chump change to them.
All of the money collected in fines goes to the retired players pension fund or medical fund or something like that.
You’d think that the fine money was coming out of your pocket. Do you think the players would be defending you if you got fined or disciplined at your job?
“silly fines like THIS is why Goodell got a 10 year extension?”
Since all fines go to charity and not into the league bank accounts that seems unlikely.
Must be nice to make so much money that you don’t care about giving away $20k (which is about a 1/2 year’s salary for your average American…).
Osi – skipping media day – $20,000
Richard Seymour – punching the opposing QB in the face after the play is over – $25,000
Osi – for only $5,000 more, you could have punched Brady in the face. Fool.
He will appeal and it will be reduced to 5k.
falconsfan – “what’s your favorite ice cream?” from some Korean news source……WTF…..like American reporters ask amazing questions…..

Okay, that was funny.
How hard is it just to sign up and asnwer some dang questions??
Man these guys are becoming tools more and more everyday….
What a joke!
$20,000 for skipping media day for the SB, but Goodell fines players only $7,500 for “illegal” helmet-to-helmet hits. I thought the league was concerned about safety. No, they are just concerned with enforcing their rules.
I am growing tired of Roger Goodell’s “good ‘ol boy” mentality and back-alley handshakes when running the league.
Now he has more incentive to beat the Pats.

Hahahahahahahaha. You’d think it would die down or get old. But it doesn’t. It gets better. LOL Jets.

Yes, for this game, the Yets are the one thing both fan bases can agree on, and laugh at. I start to feel sorry for them, and half-root for them as a solid defensive team, then I remember all their yapping and trash talking.
