Gronk wasn’t expected to practice before the game, so why is this news? News would be if he DID practice.

Pouncey had the same injury in the AFCC Game last year and missed the Super Bowl. Roethlisberger had the same injury and tried to play eleven days later. His mobility was severely limited.

The latter is probably more applicable to Gronk, since he doesn’t need the leverage of a center to run pass patterns. I wouldn’t ask him to block much.

If the Giants front four makes Brady look like a system quarterback the way the Ravens did, it won’t matter if Gronkowski plays anyway. Brady won’t have his usual 8 seconds to stand back in the pocket flat-footed and pick the Giants D apart with his two tight ends and slot receiver Wes Welker.

I saw Gronkowski running at the Indianapolis Speedway today. He looked fine to me. I think he’ll play ……….. And lead the Patriots to their 4th Super Bowl.

It was Drew Brees, and Freeney was unstoppable in the first half. His ankle swelled up in the second… but he had a torn ligament. Gronk has a strain.

Why is this a story. Didn’t they already say he probably would not practice all week. It’s the Super Bowl, he’ll be out there on game day. Probably after taking one of those injections Urlacher was talking about.

Terrell Owens had a MUCH worse ankle injury than Gronkowski prior to Super Bowl XXXIX and played despite what the doctors advised. The result was 9 receptions for 122 yards – and he was 30 years old! I’m not too worried about Gronkowski – but the Giants better be.

Gronkowski missing practice was more about not re-aggravating the injury and trying to be as healthy as possible for Sunday than it was about the injury being “still too much for him to be able to take part in practice.” Semantics, perhaps.

As a Giants fan at this point I think it will be tougher on us if he doesn’t play all together. We ARE game planning as if he’ll be in the game the entire game and we are preparing our defense to face their 2 TE set. If he didn’t play that would probably swap out to a 3 WR set and we have to go to our back up defenses, which we are practicing as well but our main game plan is for Gronk to play.
