Gronkowski listed as questionable as Patriots wrap up week of practice

New England Patriots' Gronkowski attends a practice with teammates in preparation for the NFL Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis Reuters

The Patriots have practiced so much since the AFC title game, they won’t even do a walk-through on Saturday.

Their walk-through was done Friday, and tight end Rob Gronkowski participated in the light session as expected. He’s officially listed as questionable and coach Bill Belichick told PFWA pool reporter Alex Marvez there were “no setbacks” to the Gronkle this week.

“Dressed in gray sweatpants, gray sneakers and a dark blue t-shirt bearing the popular ‘Yo Soy Fiesta’ phrase he recently coined, Gronkowski moved without a limp when the Patriots executed their offensive plays,” Marvez wrote.

The Patriots will take a team photo on Saturday, but they are done with their on-field work before the big game.

“I think we’re ready to go. We’ve worked hard this week Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in practice, and we had good practices back (in Foxborough, Mass.) last week. We went through some mental-review things out there [Friday],” Belichick said.

The Patriots list 11 players as questionable, including Gronkowski and tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back/illness.) All the Patriots players are expected to be available for the game.

The only thing that should be listed as “questionable” is the amount of times that the Pats are going to try and cheat on Sunday.

Fun Patriots trivia: nobody hung up that American flag, it just follows Gronk wherever he goes.

Who cares. He got his yards against the Giants in week 9. Patriots still lost.

A day off before the SB is the way to do it. Give your players a day to rest up mentally and physically.

That’s the norm for most teams anyway.

  19. chocolatebaconbutter says: Feb 3, 2012 4:38 PM

Dude is a meathead, so of course he’ll play. Lightly educated guess that he’ll be around 70-80% effective. Probably be used as a decoy more than anything.

    I’m guessing 4 catches for 50-55 yards.

Bingo. The Gmen “cramp” up so often on defense they look like an Italian soccer team out there.

ATTENTION — westclaims and the BOZO dude Hey guys again…..yet again….and again the spygate thing….Its a very lame cheating comment…If youd quit being closeminded and go look it up…Go see what the guys who actually matter had to say about how often the thing happened , a lot of teams have had people acknowledge they taped as well…. The information was not considered to be very helpful at all…..Please do everyone a favor and look,…….But Im guessing yall wont , because its so easy to throw out the cheating crap….Lots of relevant folk are on record as saying it was done often….Go look at Jimmy Johnsons comments about it….. YOUR TOOLS ….Thats all ya are!!!!!THE CHEATING thing must be simply a jealous statement by simpleminded goofballs!!!

  31. bodeee1975 says: Feb 3, 2012 8:41 PM

I love how this Giant front four is for some reason becoming this legendary front four….MY GOD …….They are not a very good run stopping team and if memory is correct their defense was ranked right around the 20’s and they gave up more then they scored…….So the dude who thinks they are gonna ram their feet up Brady’s rear, maybe you oughtta remember this was a 9 and 7 team that squeaked into the playoffs….Im sorry but if the Patriots handled the Ravens pass rush and the Broncos pass rush I have a hard time believing they are gonna get killed on sunday, getting Vollmer back, who is a sarn solid tackle can only help……The Patriots have a defense of rag tag nobodies essentially but they have played their butts off and I cant remember being more excited watching them rally and fight back……This team as fought hard all year and I dont care what the record of opponents was, any team can beat any team on any given day in this league and this team has as much heart as I can ever remember!!!!!! NOW BRING ON THE CHEATING COMMENTS since that is what most simple minded folks wanna dredge up!!!

  33. ampatsisahypocrite says: Feb 3, 2012 9:42 PM

My hat’s off to the guy if he can go with a high ankle sprain… we all saw what happened to Roethlisberger when he tried to play with one of those. It’s hard to plant, let alone cut — it messed up Ben’s throwing motion even. I know it’s different with a receiver, but this is tough sledding.
He ought get MVP if he snags more than three catches.

  34. kingcarlbanks says: Feb 3, 2012 9:51 PM

Oh I forgot, the Pats got to 13-3 by beating the cream of the NFL. I wonder how many points the Pats defense would have gave up to the Saints and Packers. The Giants have beat two teams in two weeks on the road with as good, if not better records than the Pats. And as I recall, one of those 9 regular season wins was against the Patties in your own yard. But the fact remains at 9-7 the Giants have got to the big dance just like Pats. So stop crowing like the Pats are invincible.

It won’t matter if Gronk is healthy. Unfortunately, I see Giants win all over this. They are the heavy favorites for a reason. Congrats Giants fans on another SuperBowl victory.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Yeah, super scary D-Line, that’s why they have 1 more sack than the Pats in the post-season, having played 1 extra game. And most analysts not buried up NY’s arse will tell you the Giants D is worse than the Raven’s.

Not saying they’re terrible, but gotta be fair here. Their front 4 are great players, but they’re not the Raven’s. And the Pats O-Line has played extremely well. To say nothing of their inability to stop the run.

Bozosforall thinks that he is so witty and so intelligent, probably thinks he’s the life of the party at a one person event. He’s probably the fat smelly kid that has gotten beat up, received atomic wedgies and had his lunch and/or lunch money taken by average size students. In fact it’s probably still happening to him. He hides in his little internet world thinking about how great he is — not! Grow up and get a life you loser.

    @jetblackninja:

Great link…So funny to see #’s 34 and 57 go down at the same time AFTER they both got right up after the tackle, then 57 gets up after he figures it was 34’s job on that play and his turn was next!
And, since I don’t have a horse in this race I feel I can make these comments as well to such great football fans as bozosforall, Amadeus, etc.:

1: NY Jets line up there injured guys along the sidelines and TRIP a Miami Dolphin player, Special Teams coach says he learned it from the Patriots!
2: Jimmy Johnson when he coached the Dolphins said he “miked up” his defensive players to get Tom Brady’s check down calls.
3: Bill Cowher, Mike Ditka, and again Jimmy Johnson all said that they videoed the opposing teams signals…There’s a new thing on the internet…It’s called GOOGLE…Look it up!

Anyway, I’m just looking to sit back with some friends and family and hopefully watch a great football game.

  43. hedleykow says: Feb 4, 2012 3:23 AM

  44. brownsclown says: Feb 4, 2012 8:35 AM

I hope Gronk can drag himself out of his wheelchair and onto the playing field. That will insure that lesser players, like Lousy Stinko, won’t get to dress for the game.

Faked inuries do indeed put doubt in NY coaches heads. They don’t know if one or two ny giants are going to suddenly fall fall down with a fake injury. They don’t know if one of those “injured” players will suddenly stand up again.

That stat is absolutely meaningless. In 2010, the Pats whipped through a bunch of playoff teams and went 1 and done in the playoffs.

The media is 95% picking the NYG so don’t act like your team is being disrespected. Most of us hardly think our team is invincible. In fact, what a lot of us like about this Pats team is that they fight to the end and never give up even in bad circumstances. Methinks that will be important in this game.

  47. bodeee1975 says: Feb 4, 2012 3:42 PM

For the last few years the patriots have not really fought back with great heart….This team, this year has done it in every game…..I DO NOT CARE what the records were against opponents…..The Rams beat the saints, the Chiefs Beat the at the time seamingly invincible Packers…….Any bad team still has a chance to beat a great team on a certain day ….While making fun of the patriots easy opponents your forgetting that the giants lost twice to a pretty poor Redskin team…The Giants beat the Patriots in the last minute after Tommy had a not so great game, it is not like the giants went and kjicked their butts, the score was 0 to 0 at halftime…Sooooooooooo…I dont care that this defense is a big old messy looking bunch….They have really came together when they needed to….I personally expected the Steeler loss early on in the year, after the Bye, and thought they would be lucky to beat the Giants, so they lose in the last minute……I just dont see it this time…This team appears to be on a mission, whether its payback for the past, whether its for Myra Kraft, who knows, but for the first time in several years Im completely confident they can win their big games!!!!!!!
