Fast track in Indy

IMAG0515

I was on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium twice this week, and one thing was clear.

The playing surface is firm and tight, with little give.  Actually, the artificial surface doesn’t seem to have much more cushioning that the old green cement Astroturf product.

It means that the game will be conducive to displays of speed and agility.  Which would benefit the players who possess those attributes.

Which would tend to benefit the Giants.

But I’m still picking the Patriots, 30-27.

Good, so Peyton will have more traction to get out of town quicker!

Cowboys Colts game there was fast and great, andwent to overtime, was cool! To bad same seats I had for that game cost $4000, not $200 today, insane!

Well, we know the turf was beneficial to the Colts opponents this season.

Yeah, because a more speedy, agile field wont benefit Welker, or Woodhead or Hernandez. It may help Cruz more, but come on. If anything, both teams benefit.

It’s too bad the Patriots don’t have any small quick receivers with the ability to run tight routes and make defenders miss.

Someone like Wes Welker would come in handy right about now.

I have absolutely no feel for this game. I am a Giants fan and I am not used to the Giants getting so much credit and then playing well. This is scary for a Giants fan. I like it when nobody picks us.

My true feeling is that Gronk isn’t hurt. No huddle and shotgun will be on the Pats agenda bigtime.

That being said, the Giants still have the better D Line and the better receivers. The Pats have the better TE’s and pretty much everything else is even.

    Should be fun.

It as always been that way at Lucas Oil. The stadium was built specifically for and by Peyton Manning. Make no doubt about it, Peyton built that house! I for one am really looking forward to Peyton playing anywhere but the AFC South.

That field is indeed bouncy and soft. Unless it is different from other years it is bouncy. Felt it myself and was really surprised, my wife and I actually said it felt like a trampoline.

It’s the same field turf that more than half the league uses – it’s not any firmer and it’s not even CLOSE to what the old turf was like.

Why would someone who’d never even seen the old turf let alone walked on it or gotten tackled on it even comment?

I have scars on both elbows from the old rca dome turf thanks to a few HS games there. That stuff WAS green cement.

I think the Pats have played there more then the
    Giants? Infinitesimal advantage Pats.

Fast track for sure. Field doesn’t have any give and if you listened to any former players that doesn’t help the Gronks ankle.

  15. bigbluenationdb says: Feb 5, 2012 4:05 PM

Also going to make that giants pass rush even quicker

  16. whoisgonnasing says: Feb 5, 2012 4:20 PM

    Giants 27 Patriots 22.

Did everyone forget how good Brady is? Eli Eli Eli all week long.

It’s amazing how one bad game will make everyone forget you. If Brady plays poorly today, he will drop to tenth in the QB rankings.

Brady will come out sharp, and remain sharp. They will be tough to beat today. Eli better not throw 2 picks.

Interesting stat on Brady given this morning by Tom Jackson. In 4 prior super bowls he has thrown 7 tds covering only 36 yards. That’s less then 2 a game.

    Giants, 35-31
