APESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Colts are targeting longtime center Jeff Saturday as a candidate for their front office. Per Schefter, at least one other undisclosed team has the same idea for Saturday.
Saturday played a major role on the players’ side during the 2011 lockout, showing leadership skills. Schefter reports that Saturday “still has an interest in playing,” however.
A former undrafted free agent out of North Carolina, Saturday is still playing at a high level, by all accounts. He has not missed a start over the past three seasons, also earning two Pro Bowl berths. For his career, Saturday is a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro.

Yeah – let’s see if they still want this after they settle the Peyton dispute.
C’mon over to the bears. We need a new player personnel guy.
This would be a great idea for Jeff after retirement. He was instrumental in negotiations during the lockout. He really knows his stuff as far as the office side of the NFL goes, as well as on the field. I would love to see this!
are the colts THAT desperate?
i guess theyre trying the “John Elway GM” experiment like the bronos
Manning and Saturday to the Cards!
Isn’t he still playing?
His first job? Talk Peyton into retiring so they don’t look foolish. Lmao
Jeff Saturday and Reggie Wayne are following Peyton to his new team as a bundle package…Miami, Washington, Seattle would do that bundle in a second.
Yet another example of the Colts organization trying to force a great player out of the game before their time.
I bet the Patriots are the other team. Kraft obviously has a ton of respect for Saturday and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re targeting him.
They are only doing this to take the heat off themselves for the poor handling of the Manning situation.
Manning should be Player-Coach
Let him play a year with Luck.
And Saturday should be player-GM
Why in the world would anyone want to work with Jim “don’t call me James Dolan” Irsay. Pass, no thank you.
Won’t happen unless the colts keep Peyton, which they should, it’s like Peyton said draft day, I’ll kick you butt if you don’t grab me. If the guy is cleared to play and is healthy he still has years in him…trade the first pick for some talent on defense and a lower pick…this team can still be relevant if they upgrade at linebacker and secondary..if not then i look forward to laughing my ass of when Peyton makes his return and throws for 400+ on you, while the colts struggle with another highly overrated, over amped up, quarterback, sorry to luck for having such high standards before starting a game..Tom and Peyton are big shoes to fill.
Kraft will somehow get him for the Pats.
