The one and only real mistake the team made was trying to run out the clock on their last drive before the final NY touhcdown drive.

When I saw them start running on that drive, I saw the rest of the game flash before my eyes: they CANNOT be trying to eat up the clock with a 2-POINT LEAD, can they? Good grief, they are!

They should have been passing all the way down the field on that drive, going for the dagger. How they could look at a 2-point lead and not see doom written all over it is beyond me. There’s no protecting a lead like that; there’s only expanding it.

Why shouldn’t he be? Patriots fans should be proud as well. #1 seed in the AFC, 3 SB wins, 5 SB appearances in the last decade or so? BB is a fantastic coach who really gets the most out of his players. He did a fantastic job with a lot of “no name” players this year.

There is no dishonor in losing a close one in the SB. 15 other AFC teams would be happy to switch places with you.

gcsuk, as a fellow giants fan, there are a whole lot of times i agree with what you say. however, this time i don’t.
patriots fans should not be proud. the fact is, even though it gets swept under the rug by the national media and warranted a patronizing slap on the wrist from the nfl, belichik (and you’re not going to convince me that brady didn’t know what was going on) is a cheater and that is nothing to be proud of. i know you can’t take away the fact that they had legitimate regular wins to get to the sb this time around (and in 42 for that matter) but i’m sorry, i can’t get past ‘spygate’ until they get an asterisk next to the sb’s they possibly won due to cheating.
i’m going to take it one step further and question brady’s competence.
ask yourself this… would (insert nfl qb name here) be a much better qb if they knew what the defensive schemes/signals were prior to the snap because they had seen priviledged film of the opposing teams practices prior to games?

They may have not won any Superbowls, but they have two appearances. They will continue to compete on a yearly basis. That is all you can ask.

The other guys (Giants) can play a little ball too. They left a few other good teams in their wake. Beating Green Bay and San Francisco on the road made a believer out of me.
