Broncos’ Knowshon Moreno arrested for DUI

Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno was arrested last week for driving under the influence.

FOX 31 in Denver reports that Moreno was pulled over by Denver Police on February 1 for driving 70 miles an hour in a construction zone where the limit was 45 miles an hour. The officer smelled alcohol and Moreno failed a roadside sobriety test, according to the report. Moreno was driving a Bentley convertible with license plates reading “SAUCED.”

The Broncos issued a statement acknowledging the arrest and saying they were looking into it.

“We take the incident involving Knowshon Moreno very seriously and are thoroughly reviewing this matter,” the statement said. “Our organization will continue to gather information and closely monitor this issue while the legal process runs its course.”

Moreno, the 12th overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft, is coming off a disappointing season in which he gained just 179 yards in seven games before being lost for the year to a torn ACL in November.

  1. I wasnt gonna comment, but the fact that he was busted for DUI with that license plate is priceless! Enjoy fading into obscurity nimrod. Sorry Donkey fans… You can do better though.

  2. He’s not very elusive on the football field either…

The SAUCED plates are about as dumb as you can get. I was driving behind a beater the other day that was covered in pot related stickers and thought to myself what an idiot, wouldn’t you not want to advertise that to the “PoPo” as your music is blaring and your seats are all the way back?

I guess some people love the inside of jail cells and their bail bondsman.

  3. I really don’t get this. Never mind the Bentley convertible with the license plate SAUCED, that’s just hilarious. But you’re a professional football player and a former first round draft pick at that, why would you risk getting a DUI? Don’t you have any friends from your childhood or college days that need a job? Here’s an idea, throw them some money to drive you around, so stuff like this doesn’t happen. Think, seriously.

  4. He’s going to regret buying that Bentley when he gets released and no other teams wants him.

  5. They raise them well where he’s from, I guess. That’s just some good old-fashioned corn-fed stupid.

He’s not coming off a bad year. He’s coming off a few- he’s always hurt, when he does play he doesn’t accomplish much… I’d just as soon be rid of him anyway- this just gives the Broncos the trigger to finally do it.

When your QB can turn water into wine, every day is taxi day.

Ladies and Gentlemen this is my choice for the most inane and unoriginal comment I’ve ever read on PFT. And that’s saying something.

Alan, I know you want to be clever but put some thought into it before hit submit. Come on man!

  8. Haha.. Wow! The License plate is killing me. I really am dissapointed in this dude.

Well Donkey fans at least we will not have to deal with Knosho anymore.

Lets see Cutler for Orton, who now is gone.

Robert Ayers who was a 1st rd pick with Moreno has like 3.5 sacks in 3 yrs, and Moreno. Wow JMD thanks! Glad to see your back with the Pats as the OC.

JMD back with the Pats is like a teenager moving out at 16 and realizing it’s tough out there and came back to the nest.

    EPIC FAIL MORENO AND JMD!

  9. I’m thinking a guy with a liscence plate like that might have a pretty severe problem. The NFL won’t look kindly on this. Also, did no one in the Bronco’s org. not see this? Even though there’s a lot of nice rides in an NFL players lot, a Bentley is always something special. Those plates stand out, and the front office had to know about it.

  10. It’s amazing how dumb some of these players can be. I just wonder where their brain is, but of course
that’ s a stupid question. Driving a Bentley is not
very smart either, but dumb dumb wouldn’t think to get someone to drive it for him.

  11. Who the hell gives these guys advice? You buy a Bentley before you earn anything beyond your rookie contract? I suppose you get more street cred pissing away a few million in 3 years than leaving within your means until you prove yourself and sign a long term contract. Hopefully it doesn’t get repo’d before he washes out. The girls will love that ride when he coaches WRs at the local High School in a couple years.

  12. Broncos won’t cut him, they already paid him the bulk of his contract so he’s going to be the cheapest option for his talent level.

  13. man, where are/were the father figures that these boys should have? and i don’t mean just the dui. a bentley with ‘sauced’ on the licence plate? c’mon man, take a lesson from t.o. and save your pennies.

  14. Dear NFL Players,

I always take a taxi when drinking. I do not make insane amounts of money, so you should be able to do the same. Hell, call a limo, have a car service waiting for you; you can afford it. In the long run, it is much cheaper than this alternative.
