Rodgers, Brees and Brady are a league above Eli. Two fluke hot streaks towards the end of the season that culminate in SB wins don’t make you the best. Wait till he’s consistent long enough in his career before anointing him the best.

funny, I recall Eli spending alot of time at “home” when his runningbacks were too busy throwing helmets at fans and when his defense was nearly as lousy as the defenses Rodgers/Brees/Peyton/Brady have had to work with.

If Rodgers had a defense that could get actual pressure, the Packers are probably 19-0 this year.

If Brees had a defense with more than one guy (vilma), he’d probably have more rings than montana at this point.

Ten years from now, there won’t be any mention of Eli Manning in the same breath as Brees, Rogers or Brady. Or even his brother.

Eli has had his moments of brilliance and has two rings. It may even get him into the Hall of Fame. The moment will pass, the hype will die down, and Eli will take his rightful place. He’ll be remembered as a very good QB that had his moments of greatness and was clutch in big moments. But how quickly winning a ring makes everyone forget a career marred by inconsistency. Wasn’t it just last season that this guy turned the ball over 30 times? Eli had a great playoff run, but let’s keep things in perspective.

That’s like saying Brandon Jacobs is the best RB in the league because he has more rings than Adrian Peterson.

It’s a team game, and Eli played average against one of the worst secondaries in the league. The reality is that The Giants receivers outplayed the Patriots, the QBs were a wash.

I totally agree! How is it that throughout the playoffs Eli can consistently chuck the ball up for grabs, and either his receiver makes a great play, or two defenders collide with each other going for easy interceptions, and he never gets burned! Talk about luck playing a role in winning the Super Bowl! He is very good, but he didn’t put the team on his shoulders and win this game or the NFC Championship, he simply didn’t screw up. I guess he should get some credit for that, but how does that make him the best?

Anyone catch the pregame when Rodgers called out the Giants defense for faking injuries to slow down their offense. I thought that was pretty class of him to take that shot 3 weeks after they were blown out at home by the Giants.

Enough with Roethlisberger. His team beat the Seahawks and Cardinals. In one of those games, he didn’t even show up. Eli beat a top 3 QB of all time TWICE on the world’s biggest stage. Ben can’t hold Eli’s jock.

well jacobs should also know note the giants defense are the best! at falling down and claiming to be injured ( for a play to slow down opposing offense’s) and putting 12 men on the field to take some time off the clock? and yet eli gets all the credit? eli is good and yes he has 2 superbowl rings but it is a team game. dan marino has none but that doesn’t make eli better than him.

If it wasnt for a great catch by Maningham and a good Giants defense this would have been a different outcome,Eli certainly isnt the second coming of his brother,nor Brees,nor Rodgers,he is merely a good QB with powerful running backs to keep the pressure off him and a couple good recievers,he and Romo are on the same level but he has a better cast around him.

Statistically, he prbly wont be at the top cuz this team isnt all about playing for stats like u saw with the pats (gronkowski) n saints (brees n graham). They go for the W and thats what Eli does best. Shows up big in big games and helps the team win.

For being the best, he sure has a tendency to have a couple bad to awful games each December.

2011 – Jets (33% completion – W) and Wash (45 QB rating – L)
2010 – GB (65 QBR – L) and Minny (59 QBR – L)
2009 – CAR (75 QBR – L) and Minny (71 QBR – L)
2008 – DAL (44 QBR – L) and Philly (73 QBR, sub 50% completion – L)
2007 – Wash (51 QBR – L) and BUF (32 QBR – W)

What’s funny is that in 2007 and 2011, those wins when he played terrible got them in to the playoffs and eventually a SB ring.
