Typical Charger fan. Rather than go out and support his team all he can do is poke fun at the raiders and make silly predictions for his pathetic team that has consistently underachieved. The chargers have taken a step back every single year for the past four years. yet they stick with the same sorry coach and players who would rather talk trash than play football, then whine about losing the game. The chargers are a failed franchise who can’t seem to get out of their own way. That’s why fans don’t come out to see them. The fans AND the player would rather go to the beach than make the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Raiders are on the upswing. No more Al Davis to drive the team into the ground. Some great, exciting young players, a good QB, and a new, defensive minded coaching staff should have this team competing for the division and a postseason slot.

Anyone who thinks this was a great hire is flat out wrong. Raiders were denied permission on several occasions to interview DC coaches meaning Tarver was at the bottom of the list.

Tarver was a co DC who did not call plays at Stanford and never has at the pro level. Never called plays period. Wrong move the defense needs more than just a one year DC at head coach and no experience at DC!

What you and a lot of people forget is that Dennis Allen is a defensive coordinator by trade. He will likely install a defense of HIS choosing, but will have someone like Tarver to run/manage it and call the defensive plays based on this defensive installation.

Tarver maybe inexperienced, but he will working under Allen who was the Donk’s DC last year remember? Allen will be running the D just like in Denver when they beat Rivers to a pulp last season.

Tarver has been coaching in the NFL for a DECADE! Try going back to elementary school to learn your alphabets.

Typical Raiduh fan who can’t read English. Tarver, while no doubt very smart and talented, is clearly and simply INEXPERIENCED at being a DC and playcaller in the NFL. That inexperience will cost the Raiduhs at least 3 or 4 games next season as he learns the league. By this time next year you’ll be crying and whining about how “stupid Tarver cost us games!” etc etc.

Reggie McKenzie knew he had a dysfunctional team on his hands. Not from the stand point of players with bad character, but with the messed up chain of command that Al Davis ran. Players could go around coaches to get in Al’s ear.

McKenzie hired his own guy because he wants a clean chain of command. He hired a young, albeit very bright, guy in Dennis Allen so that chain of command would not be challenged.

Allen hired Knapp because he wanted a guy who had a massive amount of experience on the offensive side of the ball, and who is also a solid play caller, because Dennis himself is a defensive minded coach. Knapp may be a bit on the conservative side, but he’s a very solid coach with high character. He’ll get behind Allen and stay there… because he will pretty much be able to shape the offense in his mold.

Allen then hired a young up and coming guy for his DC because Allen has a very clear and well thought out vision of how he wants his defense to look. A tenured veteran DC would have his own way of doing things, and could cause friction. Tarver will run Allen’s defensive system without reservation or friction.

This, IMO, is all according to McKenzie’s plan. The team has enough talent to go to the playoffs and beyond… the problem was in the dysfunctional way that Al ran the team. Reggie is developing a front office, top to bottom, with a singular goal. His.

do you have to post this in every Raiders coach hire post? Did you even read the post? He worked for the Niners for 9 years. Btw how many years is it going to take Norv Turner to adjust to coaching against NFL teams?

He isn’t a cornerback or a wide receiver. He will be working under a guy who was Denver’s DC last season. Enjoy your delusion.

He was assistant coach for the 49ers from 2001 – 2010. I heard Jim Harbaugh wanted him to stay, but Tarver opted to go Stanford last year.

That comment is right on the money. Clean the roster too, all the penalty junkies should be shown out as well.
