Aaron Rodgers may appear on Saturday Night Live

Aaron Rodgers AP

Aaron Rodgers could be back on NBC before Sunday Night Football starts up again.

Rodgers told Jason Wilde on his ESPN Milwaukee radio show (via the Green Bay Press-Gazette) Tuesday that he got some “feelers” about appearing on Saturday Night Live and spoke with some cast members over the weekend.  He hopes something can be worked out, which is a pretty good sign that it will work out.

We suspect Rodgers would be a funnier host than most athletes. He was very comfortable on camera in the Super Bowl pregame show and did a terrific job with his analysis. Despite that, Rodgers doesn’t want to get into broadcasting after his career.

“As much fun as it was to be in that setting. . . . I really would like to use my talents for other things when I’m done playing,” said Rodgers. “That’s still the plan.”

If Rodgers chooses not to be on television after his career, it won’t be because of lack of options. In the meantime, we’d love to see him get in the Cage.

    Discount Double …ummmm something.

Might as well have some fun. Of course this is the same fellow who said Mark Sanchez was too much of a media hound. Oh well … Discount Double Standard I guess.

Rodgers has hollywood looks (He could pass as Jake Gyllenhall if he wasn’t a football player) so I’m not too surprised. SNL has sucked for a while now but if he was on I’d watch.

Aaron, just work on your craft and forget about Madison Ave/Hollywood/Broadway. We have enough celebrity quarterbacks, and they get their reward. Win multiple SuperBowls and you can have your own show………..

    Jenniferxxx,
I don’t think he called sanchez a media hound, I think he just called him gay (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

  9. petersonisthepurplejesus says: Feb 7, 2012 6:59 PM

Yeah, he’s probably got a lot of time for unrelated football activities now that he discount double choked…no parade in GB or interviews for him…and the last thing SNL needs is another athlete tryin to act….peyton was mediocre at best, and brady was just plain awful…good luck with that…

Jealous haters. If Rodgers were a free agent this off season, ALL of you hypocrites would be begging for your team to sign him. Your hatred makes you look pathetic and desperate for something negative to say about a guy who is better than anyone on your teams.

  18. greysolon says: Feb 7, 2012 7:23 PM

That’s good news for the rest of the NFC. The more he believes in his celebritiness the worse he plays.

(And that linked Nicolas Cage impersonation is one of the worst impersonations I’ve ever seen. Alas, SNL remains almost completely unfunny).

Awesome! Looking forward to it not being funny and then listening to him whine to everyone how it’s the cast of SNL’s fault. Love seeing his ego grow. He’ll end up being a bigger diva then Favre at this rate.

Rodgers – here’s some good SNL material for you:

Q: Why do Packer fans smell so bad?
A: So blind people can hate them as well.

Q: What do you call a good looking woman with a Packer fan?
    A: A hostage

Q: Why do Packer fans wear cheese on their heads?
A: To keep the flies off their women

Q: What’s the difference between a Packer fan and a baby?
A: The baby will stop crying after awhile.

Rodgers quoted while talking trash about Sanchez in GQ – “It’s just not really my style,” Rodgers said. “I like my anonymity, I like my privacy. I like being able to be the quarterback during the week and, in the offseason, just be able to do what I want to do and not have to be in the public eye.”

    Wow Rodgers…wow.

  28. charism4 says: Feb 7, 2012 8:18 PM

Over the last few years I’ve heard A-Rod say a lot of controversial things…

Today, when asked about the Johnny Jolly arrest, Rodgers said “And I’ll be honest, I think the league deserves some of the blame in this case. I think the Commissioner’s done a great job of cleaning up some of the stuff in the league. That said, if you take a guy away from his support system . . . I don’t think that’s helping.”

In regard to Mark Sanchez’ photo in GQ (seen above), when asked Rodgers said, “That’s embarrassing. Page 94 of the GQ thing here. That’s terrible.”

After beating New Orleans opening night this season, Rodgers went with “I’ve just got to ask myself, ‘What would have happened if we had offseason workouts? Could we have started any faster and scored more points tonight?'” because of the questions he was repetitively hearing.

Via twitter, Rodgers once said, “If nickleback n hinder are playing in heaven then Jesus is not my homeboy”.

Before the Super Bowl last year, regarding the team photo controversy, Rodgers complained about some people who “choose to do their rehab in other places” when a pair of Packers whined about the team photo situation.

—-So why isn’t Aaron Rodgers seen as a jerk? Because he is right. Nickelback blows. Sanchez’s white pants are embarassing. Offseason workouts have meant nothing. Nick Barnett and Jermichael Finley should have kept things in house. Kornheiser’s an idiot. The Pro Bowl is a joke. And Johnny Jolly would have been a better person if he was spending time fighting in the trenches instead of fighting for turf selling Purp.

I, for one, find it extremely exciting and refreshing that we have a star QB who isn’t a revolving cliche and I think he’d kill SNL.

  31. tmilla19 says: Feb 7, 2012 8:53 PM

He just said what Sanchez was doing was ridiculous. Which it was because he was doing what Brady did without winning anything. I’d rather see Rodgers do something original. Don’t go on SNL like Brady and Manning. Rodgers did say he didn’t want to be in the spotlight, but apparently he can handle the lights and won’t let it effect his play. If the guy can put together another 8 years like the previous 4, he is a HOF’er.

The exact definition of DELUSION! Its so sad that you value not only your life but also the lives of others based on what team they cheer for. Regardless of what team someone cheers for, I am quite sure that everyone who just read your post finds you pathetic.

If people wanted to know how good Rodgers is as an NFL quarterback, all they would need to do is see how many people hate him on here. The more hate, the better the player or the team. Most of the jokers talking smaack are fans of teams who llose regularly. It is pretty obvious most of you cats wish Rodgers was at the helm of your teams offense.

You’re such a dipwad. Rodgers clearly states he would like to do other things “in the off-season.” Sanchez had his cover spread in September…the same week as Opening Day. Just a slight difference I wouldn’t expect a frustrated Viking fan to notice. His point was about focusing and commitment.

You’re the same guy that complains about the negative attention Packer fans lay onto the Vikings and their fans…but you do the same thing CONSTANTLY. Haven’t you ever head that the worst trait you recognize in others is the most recognizable in yourself? It fits.

cobaltdriver’s post emphasizes a noteworthy point. There is perhaps no rivalry more storied than the one between the Packers and the Bears, two teams who have been playing each other since 1921 and have played every year since then save one.

As a Packer fan, the Bears are the true enemy. To don a cheesehead is to swear life-long allegiance against all things Chicago.

But there’s a strong mutual respect there too. The Bears are a well run organization. They are tough, they play tough, and they often play like gentlemen. Bears’ fans are true fans of football.

The Vikings (and their fans), on the other hand, are always a joke. Poorly run, whiny, and big talkers with little to show for it.

Growing up in northeastern Wisconsin, the Bears were always The Bad, but the Vikings were The Ugly.

  57. cobaltdriver says: Feb 9, 2012 3:01 PM

Thanks ghostof lombardi. Like you said Bear fans/Pack fans respect the rivalry. I LOVE northern Wisconsin, in fact looking forward to summer , and yes, I can’t wait to payback my Packer fan neighbors, however it’s all in fun, we laugh and joke about it and then golf ,fish ,boat and have fun. Should be another fun summer! Lot of promise for both our teams.
