Pete Metzelaars, who played tight end in Buffalo for 10 seasons, has been hired to coach the tight ends in Buffalo for the 2012 season.
The Bills announced today that Metzelaars, who spent the last eight seasons as an assistant for the Colts, has accepted the job in Buffalo, where he says he’ll draw on his experience in the NFL to teach the Bills’ tight ends the finer points of the position.
“I think in anything it’s about teaching techniques, fundamentals, doing things correctly every single time and doing them well,” he told the team’s web site. “That gives you a chance to compete against the people you play against in this league and gives you a chance to win. That’s my whole focus.”
Metzelaars played on all four of the Bills’ AFC Championship teams and is their all-time leader among tight ends in catches, receiving yards and touchdowns.
