He hates white people, but he’s open about it. As a cracker myself, I can deal with that.

The man is refreshing. PC sucks.

Question: If a white “analyst” had referred to a black athlete as “Black Boy Wasted”, exactly how long would it have taken ESPN to fire him????

Answer: In the blink of an eye.

It seems that it’s OK to be a racist unless of course….. you’re white.

We’re offended by the double standard that exists.

No – i did not take the remarks as insensitive – it was kinda funny. Rather, I took the remarks as hypocritical, as in- what if it was a white remarking on a black in a similar fashion, what would the immediate fallout be. Here- laughing apology.

And what’s up with the NFL players saying term “boy” all the time? Watching the SB Sound Fx all i heard all game long was “hey boy” “boy” etc. I was just getting good using “homie”

the median demographic is obviously 30-50 white men who for some reason feel like they should at some point be entitled to cry about racism when the slightest nod towards something in popular culture that refers to a white person is brought about. pathetic.

Except that, if a white sportscaster commented on someone like Vick or Burress, and said “black boy arrested”, we would all see Al Sharpton and Jesse for the next three weeks, and the network would run public apologies noon and night.

The sportscaster? Sincere, tearful apology. Threats to his family. Front page for weeks. Editorials about how racist whites are.

Oh, and he was fired before the echo of the words died away. Never to work in broadcasting again.

But hey. No double standard.

Oh, so if Grant has 7 kids with 6 women, names them a made up word like Elefantasia, and can barely read, that makes him okay in your eyes, Jalen? No wonder the “community” is the laughing stalk of the modern world and no one respects you. Even though you demand it every day through words but not actions.

Do I care what Jalen Rose said, no, I felt it was humorous. Do I care when Imus said ‘those are some nappy headed h**s? No! That was actually very hilarious. But the truth of the matter is black, white, asian, whatever you may be, we all need to figure out what is important to us and not get into such an uproar over silly things. It’s a COMMENT! Is he disrupting your family or your money? Then move on! I could understand if Gronk was angry, or the people that a ‘slur’ is being made at are angry. But people always stick their nose in business that does not involve them. If it was that serious to Gronk, let him go talk to Jalen.

When anyone makes a generalization based on race it’s offensive. It really can be that simple. Let’s look at a few examples:
Gingrich saying Spanish is the language of the ghetto: RACIST (there are rich and poor Spanish speaking just as there are all races of people living in the ghetto)

Referring to blacks as ghetto blacks: RACIST (while it is describing a subset of blacks it’s dangerous to try and assume or even elude to that it’s typical)

Referring to a state of being as white boy wasted is: RACIST (the way it’s said in the song is trying to elude to that only whites can afford to or get away with being so well off they can party a certain way. That’s a racist exaggeration and stereotype. Granted it’s only a small bit of a horrible song, it does try and create a stereotype.)

I fail to understand how so many people can’t comprehend why making racial stereotypes is wrong. In certain contexts it can be effective and appropriate. This wasn’t one…

Maybe rap music is part of the problem (racial and otherwise). I recommend classical music. Blacks DO write and play classical music you know.

And Don Imus got his slur against the Rutgers basketball team from rap music as well. Did that make it ok?

It’s not that people are unaware, but rather that it really doesn’t make a difference. Just like it didn’t for Don Imus.
