lol I feel like they have got a system for generating income on personel welfare though. They like this system too, because it lets them manipulate society in through invaluable method.

The only difference between cororate welfare and personel welfare that taxpayers pay for is on the corporate side the state receives tax dollars back from sales, payroll tax, and income tax. Personel welfare does not generate and tax income.

This will be a publicly owned stadium that will be about 1/3 privately funded. The Vikings will make money off of it but they won’t own it. The public also makes money through other events hosted at the stadium, sales taxes from money spent in and around the stadium, and income taxes from millionaire players. Even if they don’t break even through direct economic benefits, the public also gets the less tangible benefits of having an NFL team, which is a nice thing for the people who live there.

Go back to 1950. Shared stadiums can’t generate the revenue necessary to survive in today’s major sports leagues. I don’t like it but I accept it.

They literally just opened a baseball stadium for the twins. Why the hell did they not just make that a stadium for both teams and design it to be something like the old polo grounds so its good for baseball and football. It amazes me how wasteful, dumb, and greedy society is.

I’m glad to see there are still die-hard Vike fans out there. I’m so tired of the fair weather crap. This team is on the right path. Stop second guessing their every move. It’s unfortunate we got this stadium issue hanging over our heads but I am confident it will be done. I’m no prophet and there are no guarantees in life, but I promise you this, we will have our day in the sun.

He’ll be the new Barry Sanders and we’ll always wonder what he could’ve done if he would’ve been on a contender.

He was on a contender for one year, but the Saints and Favre ended that dream.

Seems like only yesterday the Vikings were a competitive team.

I still don’t get it. Why build a NEW stadium right next to the old one? Why not refurbish the old one? That would have to save a few hundred million, right?

If you are going to build a new stadium, build it in Arden Hills where a game day experienc can be had, void of parking ramp hell, and steep priced vendor food/parking. Nobody is throwing the football around in a parking ramp, while waiting for their hamburgers and brats to be served!

8 – 10 days each year in a downtown setting doesn’t justify building a NEW stadium. Keep the old dome for the other 200 events which happen there (RV shows, high school/college baseball games/etc.). Put an open air stadium in Arden Hills for the Vikes!! Let the tailgating begin!

I’m getting tired of the “hopefully, they’ll still be around by then” bit. Where are they going to go? They have to announce they’re moving by Wednesday to not play in Minnesota next year, and where are they going to go? LA isn’t ready for a team next year and Goodell already said they’re planning on expansion teams for that market. It looks like the lease goes through 2012 anyway. The stadium will get done; they’re just going to take their sweet time to get it done.

Sid might be wrong on the one year at TCF Stadium. I’ve heard it would be 2-3 games at TCF. That would eliminate the need for installing heat coils under the turf, as they’d be done prior to winter setting in.
