Philbin keeps running backs coach Jeff Nixon

Nixon_Jeff

Though it remains to be seen whether Dolphins coach Joe Philbin will use running back Reggie Bush as a workhorse or part of a two- or three-headed backfield, Bush will have the same position coach that helped him enjoy a career year in 2011.

The Dolphins have announced that running backs coach Jeff Nixon will return as a member of Philbin’s staff.

The Dolphins also announced that Blue Adams will serve as assistant defensive backs coach, Charlie Bullen will be a defensive assistant, Ben Johnson will work as an offensive assistant, and Chris Mosley will be the assistant offensive line coach.

Under Nixon, Bush rushed for 1,086 yards, and rookie Daniel Thomas churned out 581 yards, most in the AFC last season for any first-year player.

The more important position right now in Miami, of course, is quarterback.  Then again, that’s been the most important position since Dan Marino retired.

Being a Dolphin fan I am sure Jeff Ireland will do everything in his power to screw up the 1st round pick, or end up getting Peyton Manning signed, and then Manning won’t take a snap all year!! Phins haven’t won a Superbowl in basically 40 years, why stop now right Jeff!!

So far I am not a huge Ireland fan either, but let’s be real. This will be his 2nd draft. The ownership is new, the front office is new, and the coach is new. Why hold 40 years against them? In my opinion, they should be judged on their production, and right now it is just too soon to make any kind of real accurate predictions as to their worth.

Ireland may end up being a great GM. He needs time to prove himself, as does Ross, and the new coach, Philbin.

Talk about a crappy Dolphin fan. At least you could be positive about next year. We have had season tickets for 30 years, so have seen it all.
Let’s just hope that this time the organization has it right.

Honestly, I think Miami cursed themselves with such a beast of a player like Marino. They’ve been trying to fill his shoes ever since and recent history shows that they’ve even given up finding a franchise QB, as they’ve been a run-oriented offense the last several years. Similarly, I see the same thing happening to the Colts. They’ll try to replace Manning for a decade or so.

Whatever happened 40 years ago, 40 minutes ago, in fact 40 seconds ago is over, you can’t get it back. All you can do is move forward which is what the Dolphins are doing and I strongly suggest phinfan527 you do the same. Sorry your life is so misserable but don’t try and take others with you. Go Fins.

This Packers Die Hard wishes Philbin and the Phins only the best. He’s a 1st rate coach and person. Nothing but positives to say about the guy.

I expect him to bring Flynn with him. He’s worked with him as long as Flynn’s been in the league. He might not possess a rocket arm.. but the kids accurate and mobile. Not to mention the kid’s very intelligent. Recipe for success if he brings Flynn with him.

Next step after QB for the Phins is finding a stud tight end. A QB’s best friend is a good tight end.

I’m pretty sure they’re gonna have his replacement in about 2 months…

If the secondary can keep the big plays down and we get consistent pressure, then Moore can make the Fins a second round playoff team. An upgrade at QB would be nice though.

How cool is it that I am getting honest responses from Phinfans. The one thing I’ve noticed over the years when I speak to other Phinfans is that we are very knowledgeable about football and passionate about the Phins. I drive 50 miles round trip each Sunday to a sportsbar to watch the Phins so I am on the same hopeful maybe desperate bandwagon than the Phinfans that posted opinions because of my post. It’s good to see you back our team. I’ve followed the Phins since the mid 70′s so being a fan is all I know. I can take the criticism from the posts. It’s all good. I pray I am wrong. I’ve met Dan Marino 3 times with my son so how miserable can life be?!! Go Phins.

Ireland needs a chance since he has only been in control for a year. Ross didn’t hire Parcells so cut him some slack too. I’m not a fan of Ross because of how he handled the Sparano thing last year.

Why would u drive 50 miles round trip every Sunday just to get to a sportsbar?

Daniel Thomas will never be an every down back because he is a China doll and is always hurt.

Sportsbar is a huge Phins hangout. Owner is a Phin fanatic. 100” screen for the Phins game.
