Former 49ers coach Mike Singletary was into giving bombastic speeches. He like old school drills like the “Nutcracker.” His penchant for bold gestures was perhaps best symbolized by “Mt. Pain.”
Singletary built a hill in 2009 at the 49ers practice facility for players to run up.
Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee says Jim Harbaugh didn’t use the hill in his first year as a coach. So the team recently decided to bulldoze the hill because it was in the way of a new road being built at the team’s facility.
And that’s a nice symbolic goodbye to the Singletary era in San Francisco. In just one year, Harbaugh has helped to demolish the losing, often embarrassing culture surrounding the 49ers over the last decade.
