As expected, the Houston Texans have formally announced that Karl Dorrell is their new quarterbacks coach.
The quarterbacks coach position became vacant in Houston when Greg Knapp, who had coached the quarterbacks in Houston the last two years, left to become the Raiders’ offensive coordinator. Dorrell was viewed as the favorite to take on the role, and on Friday the Texans made his hiring official.
A former UCLA head coach, Dorrell spent the last four seasons as an assistant with the Dolphins. He previously served as the wide receivers’ coach with the Broncos from 2000 to 2002, working on a Denver staff that also included Texans head coach Gary Kubiak, offensive coordinator Rick Dennison and tight ends coach Brian Pariani.
In Houston Dorrell inherits a stable of quarterbacks that includes starter Matt Schaub, backup Matt Leinart and third-stringer T.J. Yates.
As a UCLA fan, I find thisto be a complete joke. The guy couldn’t develop any QBs, including a highly ranked prospects in Ben Olson against Pac-10 competition. Good thing Schaub is already established.
Haha the guy who just helped make Matt Moore legit?? What a downgrade at QB COACH. Idk if you guys posted the article but when Greg Knapp left he was so torn about his decision. He talked about how good their coaching staff is over there and the teams potential.
Texans don’t miss a beat next season I don’t care what the schedule looks like.
11-5
Helped make Matt Moore legit? Dorrell was coaching the WRs for Miami, not the QBs. Hartline and Bess both had significant drop-offs, Brandon Marshall is Brandon Marshall…
It won’t matter who is QB coach, they’ll not make the playoffs again. Especially when (if) Manning comes back.
He was an assistant and w.e the real qb coach is kubiak as it is. An HA football statistics said the Texans were the best team in the nfl as of like week 10 or something and then schuab went down. Bring on Peyton if he dares come back
@thefiesty1
You’re a clueless moron

Sorry bud but you are wrong. Dorrell was the QB’s coach last year in miami. Even if you don’t follow the dolphins or whichever team, it’s easy to find who their position coaches were. When dorrell first joined the dolphin staff, he was the wr’s coach. But that isn’t his natural position. Last season he was the qb coach for the dolphins
I glanced at the headline real quick and it looked like it said “Texans officially name Kordell quarterbacks coach”
