Nice move…wayyyy over paid for very little production! Limited ball skills, never looks for the ball! Was known to read receivers eyes? Is that even possible? I even saw a few games were he made the famous “business desicion”, and chose not to make a tackle! Say what you will, but I still miss Nnamdi! He never dodged a tackle! Oh well, see ya later Stanford…more money for Micheal Bush Baybee!!

They have to clear waivers when the season is in progress. Players are cut all the time in the offseason to become FAs.

I thought if a player is under contract and is cut he would have to clear waivers first to become a Unrestricted free agent?

I like that the Raider’s fans are being honest with their feelings about this player, but there is something I think they forgot to consider – Routt is going FROM the Raiders not TO the Raiders.

Just because a player is not great with one team doesn’t mean they won’t be great with another.

Randy Moss, Raiders. Randy Moss.

And believe me there are few people in Minnesota who didn’t Randy to stay and have Childress go. I’d still welcome him back for a third time.

During a game this season, there was a clip of Raiders DB assistant coach Rod Woodson telling Routt, who had just made an interception, that he’s always telling him to turn his head and look for the ball. Six years in the league and this is what the CB is needing to be coached on?

I really dont know what Routt’s hangup is, but while he was being paid at an elite level, he’s actually a below average corner. Probably has most to do with the fact that he was a track star in college and Al drafted him as a project after watching in run a 4.27/40 at the combine. Routt’s love was track… not football.

For all those clammoring to land this guy… you obviously haven’t watched him play much. Regardless of who they choose to replace the CB, the Raiders got better by releasing him.

I wish him the best, but he did not help our team whatsoever……….he was undisciplined and vulnerable. I was sick when we let Namdi go and kept this guy, it was a terrible move. Now maybe Reggie/Dennis can right the ship!

It’s also funny how certain news outlets chastise the Raiders because they overpaid an (average at best) player, but turn right around and criticize them for letting go of that average player.

Man…then try to dis the Raiders for giving the player the BEST scenario for getting with another ball club, but get this…that same “media outlet” tries to insinuate that the Raiders should have held Routt until late in the offseason to severely limit his chances of going to another ball club in time to be of use week one.

Again…funny how that works.

Which means “Jerruh” will go get Carlos Rogers and overpay him into mediocrity so he can learn from the most overpaid, and mediocre corner in the league (Terence Newman).

It happens every time. Media, Fans and other Teams knock a Raiders player while with the Raiders. They call them average or worse. But if released by the Raiders or they become a Free Agent Teams by the bunch line up to sell their Mamma and other Teams Fans Foam at the Mouth with the thought of getting them.
