Yeah, quittsburgh dude… the refs were really in the bag for the Steelers when they RIDICULOUSLY overturned Polamalu’s interception of Manning in the 2005 divisional game, huh? THAT travesty of refereeing was worse than ANY call against Seattle in the Super Bowl. But where are you to call it then? Huh? FACT: IT WAS THE STEELERS WHO SUFFERED THE WORST HOSE JOB BY THE REFS IN THE HISTORY OF THE PLAYOFFS. That was THE single worst call EVER. Of course, you haters conveniently leave this kind of stuff out of your memories. Tsk tsk.

Sorry, you haters will have to come up with something better than the phony “refs” excuse…

----------------------------------------------------------
One call is all ya got? HA!

And I suppose you'll tell me that the Immaculate Reception WAS a legal play then? Funny how (by 1972 rules) that play should have been whistled dead. And how's about the Mike Renfro TD catch in the playoff game VS Houston ion 1979 that was incorrectly called incomplete? Or the Kordell TD "catch" VS the Colts in the 1995 playoffs where Kordell is shown freely & clearly stepping in and out of the back of the end zone several times before catching the ball, which should have been called incomplete. And (of course) the many terrible calls (too many to mention them all) made VS Seattle in that Super Bowl which unfairly handed the Steelers the title on a silver platter.

I'd love to just ONCE hear even ONE Steeler fan admit their team got any of these favorable calls that weren't deserved but they never will. Steeler fans are as bad as Boston fans in that regard...

Coaches coach, players play. Rooneys will be owning the team long after Ben is arrested and thrown in jail again. Basing the future of the team around a QB is not the way to go-(e.g. Colts). Ben needs to worry about getting on the game plan with Haley, not making demands. or else he is the new starting QB for Oakland.
----------------------------------------

1. Exactly when was Roethlisberger ever thrown in jail? Uh, news flash -- he hasn't ever even been CHARGED with a crime, let alone convicted. News flash number two -- you have to be put in jail the first time before there's an "again."

This is the logic of the clowns who "assume" he committed sexual assault, when in fact there's no basis for anything like that.

2. Haley will worry about crafting the best game plan to fit the franchise QB's needs -- or else HE'LL be looking for an assistant trainer's job in Oakland.

3. Players play, but franchise QB's rule. This handful of elite players is set apart from the rest, like it or not.

The very fact that you took the time to think up this 3rd-grade level insult/screenname tells me you love the Steeler more than you’d ever dare admit.

C’mon, come out of that closet: it’s OK to be a Steelers fan.

Really. Be brave.

----------------------------------------------------------

Uhmm... yeah, right.

The fact of the matter is I've hated the Squealers for over 35 years.
For that matter, I also hate the Patsys but for different reasons.
The Patsys cheat to win their titles while the Stoolers
rely mainly on the NFL & its refs to hand them theirs.
If there's any "love" involved, I love to hate on them both.

Deal with it...

And here's another one for our resident hater and chief numbskull...
-------------------------------------------------
citizen strange says:
15) In the Super Bowl against the Seahawks Roethlisberger had a 22 qb eating and the Steelers would have lost if not for Fast Willie Parker’s 75 yard TD run and Randle El’s 38 yard TD pass to Ward.
-----------------------------------------------

That was the ONE AND ONLY contribution from Parker in the ENTIRE championship run. I invite our pal to check out what Bettis and Parker did in the three playoff games leading to the Bowl -- then compare it to the passing performances Roethlisberger put up. Then you'll begin to understand that the 2004-2005 Lombardi Trophy never happens without Roethlisberger's playoff passing -- the missing ingredient in Cowher's ring quest all these years. For once, the QB didn't flop in the playoffs under Cowher -- yes Roethlisberger disappeared in the Bowl, but again, that championship NEVER HAPPENS without Roethlisberger's three amazing passing games. Plus, he even bailed out Bettis making that game-saving tackle agains the Colts -- even put up the key block without which Randle-El never makes that pass -- but remember, the numbskull never gives credit to the QB, only to the defense and running backs.

And again -- Roethlisberger threw what should've been the game-winning pass vs. the Ravens this year. Or was it Ben who gave up that 92-yard drive with just two minutes on the clock? Uh I don't think so. If the defense doesn't fail, the Steelers win the North, and never have to play during wild-card week.

This has been a public service message for the benefit of all hater-numbskulls out there.

Yes, exactly. I'm a Tomlin believer, but still haunted by his after-game comment that Ben wanted to play and he wanted to support Ben. That's not his role, and his priorities are off if he thinks that's appropriate. That game effectively ended our season. Yes, you could make the argument that winning in SF could have meant home-field and a bye for the playoffs. And we clearly didn't have the depth at QB we should have had. But we didn't get home-field and a bye. All we got was a further-injured QB. It was ridiculous.

As we say in the South, the franchise quarterback can straighten up and fly right. The reason I’m so delighted Arians is gone is because the franchise quarterback has been over-indulged for far too long.

We don’t need to “let Ben be Ben.” We need to expect Ben to live up to his potential. And he has not done that. He’s tremendously talented, and it has been exciting to see him pull off some seat-of-the-pants plays. But he’s bought into his own mythology.

Consistent success is a product of constant preparation, not serendipity. He gets into a comfort zone and doesn’t want to push himself to do better because his magic aura will save him when things get tough. Well, the older he gets, the less magic aura he has and the more he needs to focus on preparation and technique. Time to stop talking and start listening to a coach who knows what he’s doing.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Bingo. Ben arguably saved Arians job 2 years ago. Arians let Ben do whatever he wanted and was not helping Ben develop. Steelers arguably missed the playoffs because Ben refuses to dump off the ball. get rid of it and stretches out every play. Often at the wrong time (on 3rd down knocking Steelers out of FG range or making the attempt worse).

Arians was a genius at refusing to attempt to exploit the opponents weakness. Or if he did have a play that worked, putting it back in the playbook and forgetting it for the rest of the game.

Tomlin is part of the problem too. Ben should have never gone back in the SF game at the end, and Tomlin allowed Ben to convince him otherwise, after he had pulled Ben out. That should have never happened.

I gotta say as a Steeler fan-I'm a little concerned about this move.
Roethlisberger haters will hate and if you think he's a D-bag you may have a point (I think he has made SOME changes for the better). I really think that Hayley is a D-bag and is begging to get the poop beat out of him by a player.
I'm thinking Rooney 2.0 is sticking his finger into the pot a little too much. Yes an owner owns the restaraunt but it's the chef that cooks. Please don't turn into a PA version of Jerry Jones!
Are we seeing the begining of the end of Big Ben in Pittsburgh? Draft will be interesting. I'm not saying now but when does his contract end?
And Ben isn't fat. Yeah, well-not that fat. He's big boned darn it!

Now for the reality check.

Ben Roethlisberger has for years excelled playing behind an offensive line that would cripple other QBs. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Aaron Rodgers would be NOTHING if they had to brave lines like this. Roethlisberger should be voted to the Pro Bowl every year just for having to put up with this poor excuse of an 0-line he gets stuck with. You see what happens to Brady when he doesn't have time for a cup of coffee back there. Welcome to Ben's world, Tommy. How's it feel?

Of course, such things are never credited to Ben, it's only pointed out all the LUXURIES he has around him. Right boys?

For some reason, Ben's success really cheeses off some people, so they have to invent reasons to deny Roethlisberger his props. So they come up with the "Steelers win because of defense" or "Steelers win because of running game" thing. Both are complete jokes, meant to avoid the truth.

For the record, the defenses Ben's played with don't even compare with the Blitzburgh defenses Cowher had in the '90s and into the early 2000's.
The running game was better back then, too. But for some reason, the Steelers could never win it all. Then, the right QB comes along, and boom -- two rings within four or five years. You morons want to call that coincidence, or claim it's because of the "number-one defense," fine. Just hold your ears to the sound of my laughter.

Like I said, if you can't recognize what Roethlisberger has meant to the Steelers, you have the I.Q. of a doorknob.

14) In Roethlisberger’s “finest hour” in the Super Bowl against the Cardinals the Steelers would have lost if not for James Harrison’s 100 yard interception return TD. Up until the miraculous final drive TD to Holmes the supposedly Pro Bowl quarterback can come up with all of 13 points.

The Steelers win ONLY because of their NUMBER ONE defense and if the defense gives up 20 points it is usually a slam dunk loss so yeah … I would think that some “tweaking” is in order.
--------------------------------------------

Where DO they get these numbskulls?

Uh, you forget that "number one" defense also BLEW A HUGE LEAD late, and had to get bailed out by one of the greatest winning Super Bowl drives ever -- led by, uh was it James Harrison? I don't think so.

The Steelers were 6-10 the year before they drafted Roethlisberger. 15-1 the next. Duh. Cowher couldn't win a Super Bowl to save his life. Then boom, Bill gets his ring. Seriously, anyone who can't figure out that Roethlisberger is a franchise savior has the I.Q. of a doorknob.
The Steelers know how far to go without shaking things up too much.

I love people who still spew the myth that the Steelers win because of "defense" or "the running game" -- it's kind of like people who believe in the tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny. The Steelers would be 6-10 without Roethlisberger -- this isn't Flacco and the Ravens.

That "number one" defense has been blowing leads for years now -- Roethlisberger threw what should've been the winning TD against the Ravens, except as we all know, the DEFENSE gave up the losing score with just a couple minutes on the clock. Gee, funny how you leave stuff like that out. How convenient.

The Steelers win the North if not for the "number one" defense blowing it against the Ravens -- the only reason they were even playing the wild-card week.

Like I said, numbskulls...

I think you're clueless.

Tomlin decided to start Ben in the final week. Just like Tomlin decided to sit Clark in Denver.

Clark said he would have played, just like Ben would have played against St. Louis.

Tomlin made the call. He rolled the dice and he lost. Ask Bill Belichick and Wes Welker about that. They did the same thing in 2009.

Steelers fans don't like when media outlets report on tensions because they (and by "they" I mean "PFT") continuously post half of the story and omit the most important quotations in order to sensationalize the narrative.

I don't even doubt that there is a little bit of a power struggle going on; I just think it's being blown tremendously out of proportion.

THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHEN THE STEELERS HIRED TOMLIN!!!

The players were skeptical of the decision and of Tomlin's newer coaching style, which--in Tomlin's words--"Grinded [the players] down to a nub."

The heavy practices burned the team out in 2007, but the players still did as they were told.

The dissension is worth noting, if only because there is nothing else to talk about. But the "internal struggles" will disappear as long as the Steelers win. Ego or no ego, Ben is still a professional. He didn't like Whiz's system; he was probably a little skeptical of Tomlin, like Ward and Farrior were. But he still did his job and he still won games

Steelers will do well........just the haters just clicking their heels again and again. The Steelers have 3 AFC championships and 2 Rings in the last 7 years. The one thing you can count on is that they will be back. Yes jealousy of their winning ways is rampant.
Their success is amazing and record setting.

Haley would still be coaching in KC this year if not for the injuries. The Rooneys are smart and that scares the haters.

I think this may be a good move by the Rooney's. The problem is that you have a QB that is need of the spotlight and that while he says he is all about the team....no "team" player is going to put his team in jeopardy of a loss by playing while an injury impedes his effectiveness. The other problem is that you have a coach (and had an OC) that would not stand up to this ego machine and tell him to sit down since you were playing a game that did not matter since you were already in the playoffs. He could have had a bye week or 2.
Ben would rather play and listen to the media kiss his butt about what a great warrior he is for playing injured.
Arians let Ben do what he wanted, that is why Ben loved him.....Ben saying to the media that he has heard good and bad things about Haley is not a good start.
Maybe Haley will be the one to stand up to Ben. That would be a good thing for the steelers!

Per Herb Brooks, "The name on the front of the jersey is a hell of a lot more important than the name on the back!". In the Rooney's, I trust. To challenge the Rooney's on personnel decisions is either arrogant or stupid. Or both. This goes for our all pro QB also. I was a Steeler fan before you got there and I'll be a Steeler fan long after you're gone. I'll stick with the owners of 6 trophies.

As usual the media needs to create a story so they have, gives them something to write about in the off season. Then of course all the Steelers haters come out from under their rocks and jump on the bandwagon of doom and gloom. Glad to see business as usual otherwise I would be concerned! If you remember right all you "haters", going into last season these same media members had the Steelers finishing 3rd in the division and not even sniffing the playoffs: due to age, coaching, Ben, etc., etc. Well finishing 12-4 tied for the second best record in the AFC is hardly a failure. Yes they lost to the Ravens twice(costing them the division) but how did the Ravens Super Bowl season finish? All things considered a nice season although it didn't finish the way any Steeler wanted. Already getting excited about next year can't wait to hear where we'll finish according to all the talking heads, they'll probably have us finishing 4th in the division because of age, coaching(Haley), Ben, etc., etc. Sounds good to me I'll take another 12-4 season cause I don't see the Ravens doing that! That gives the Steelers another AFC Central title and a first round bye, so keep up the talk I know we'll be just that "bad" again! Go Steelers!

The comment about throwing a bone to Haley's dad explains everything. I'm sure it won't take long for Tomlin to accidentally tie his shoe laces to Haley's and they both fall flat on their faces. Thank goodness Haley is no longer KC's problem. Good luck, Tomlin...you were probably better off letting Big Ben freewheel than you will be with nutcase Haley steering the ship.

I don't get the Haley hate. The dude wasn't a good head coach but that's true of a LOT of good coordinators. Dick LeBeau is a good example - not a great HC, fantastic coordinator.

Haley will do fine with the weapons the Steelers have on offense and he'll be better than Arians in a key area: Haley won't abandon the run.
