Getty ImagesThe wife of Chargers defensive lineman Tommie Harris has been hospitalized and is on life support.
Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Harris’s 29-year-old wife, Ashley, suffered a stroke or brain aneurism. She is in a hospital in Oklahoma.
A friend of the family is quoted as saying, “We are holding on for a miracle.”
Tommie Harris played for the Bears from 2004 to 2010. He spent training camp with the Colts in 2011 but was released and spent the regular season with the Chargers.
Ashley Harris gave birth to the couple’s second child four months ago.

Bummer.
Good luck.
Thoughts And Prayers go out to him and his family.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Harris family.
Will definitely pray for him and his family. He had a few beastly years with the bears. Once a bear, always a bear.
Thoughts and prayer to the family…..
My thoughts and prayers to him and his family…

Agreed. I hope she recovers, but that is not usually the case if it is a brain aneurysm. I had a friend die of that at the age of 27. He was a gifted athlete.
I wish his family all the best, especially the children.
Horrible.
Tragic.
Condolences go out to the family.
No one should have to go through that.
Thoughts and prayers with the family and most importantly the children. Hug yours a little tighter tonight people, you never know when it’s coming. If you voted thumbs down to any of these comments, I wish you could trade places with Harris’ wife.
thoughts and prayers to the Harris family.
Amazing. Hope it can all be put into perspective, T. Keep on keepin’ on.
that’s just awful.
best wishes to the Harris (and his wifes) family, an awful unfair situation. from the Vikings family, and entire nfl family & fans, we r thinking of you, godspeed.
We haggle here every day over games and then something that has real meaning in life brings us back to reality.
Our prayers to the family in hopes of a miracle.
People voting thumbs down are just miserable individuals who are already dead inside. Pay them no attention. I pray for the best for his wife and their families.
Terrible. Hopes, prayers and best wishes to the Harris family.
This is just heartbreaking.
I’m praying for you brother.
WoW just cant believe it. 29 years old? Man life can be cruel and unfair. I have had a lot of freaking pains as mine as well.
I had a friend who died at 20 from pancreatic cancer. His younger brother died of the same thing around 18 years old. I couldn’t believe it when it happen so fast and young. I just try to enjoy each day as if it is a gift to be here for one more and I am a loving family memeber who tells me family I love em everyday cause you never no when whn it is time to to say farewell.
Wishing the Harris family the best my mom had a massive stroke 1 year ago and I have to care for her every single day.
seriously the people giving thumbs down are horses asses.
I feel sorry for the guy and the family. Stay strong bro for her!
that is the same age as my wife. I dont know what i would do if that was me, so i cant imagine what he is going through. best of luck brother….

Two eyes to the sky. I will be praying for the Harris family and all involved, we all Pray and wish for a complete turn around. Lord, not only let her recover, let her be physically and mentally able to support her husband and help raise their children.
Man, that is sad. Perhaps a reminder to us all to kiss our wife, hug our kids and be thankful to the Man upstairs for what you have.
So young…God bless
God Bless.
My thoughts are with her and the family. doesn’t matter that I’m a Bears fan, nobody this young should be fighting for their life. I have a 29 year old wife and two kids and couldn’t imagine. God Bless.
Thumbs down on Best Wishes Phenomenon:
Just from a psychological perspective I have long been wondering about this on this site. Appears to be more prevalent here than any other blog I’ve seen.
It HAS to be:
1) People who can’t tell the difference between UP and DOWN and can’t click
2) Atheists who don’t like anything referencing “Prayer” .. I’m guessing this is MOST of them.
3) People who just like to be asses. It HAS to be some of that. Because even non-religious statements like “bummer” or “best wishes” get a handful of thumbs down.
I mean I REALLY would like to know…
Anybody who is man (or woman) enough who does this, feel free to post and explain WHY you post thumbs down to people expressing support for a dying or dead person.
I’m really sorry to hear about this, just devastating news.
All the best to the family.
She’s passed away now. RIP. So tragic. My condolences.
