You cant buy a championship in the NFL, having said that its good to hear they are going to spend some money. Im a big bucs fan but also a realist, we are not one, two or even three free agents away from a title. Sign some solid players, williams, stevie johnson for example and continue to build and use the space as needed but dont spend for the sake of spending and bring players like haynesworth in.

Quite frankly, I think the Glazers fired the wrong guy.

I agree. I think Dominic should be gone as well. While the Glaziers may have told him what he could spend, he drafted a bunch of worthless players that we will have to replace anyway because they don't belong in the NFL (ie. all the DBs, all our linebackers, and our wide receivers) we have gone from the most feared defense in the NFL to a defense that couldn't stop a top ranked college team.

I am hoping things will change but with the current GM and owners I am skeptical.

Can't believe these teams. Didn't spend last year to have a team....fired the coach....have new one and NOW you're going to spend. Rashem says "thank you very much you ass holes". Sounds like the Packers of the 80's....never woud spend and had a decade of crappy years and firing coaches. Decided to get Reggie White and Co. and wait for it........won a Super Bowl. I'm not saying to buy all free agents but add the talented ones to the mix with the draft choices and built your team.

Wow, Denver has the second highest amount to roll over into this year. Even with low spending last year they made into the 2nd round of they playoffs (where they got pounded, but oh well).

Elway now has the means to make a big splash in free agent signing this year. Will he do it, or will he stay the course of low spending and building through the draft? After watching Philly last year I'd be inclined to take care of current players and build though the draft. Many times talent does not travel well in the NFL. A hungry player has an outstanding year hoping for the big F/A contract. When they get the big payday they then disappear. Seen it way too many times.

“We purposely rolled every penny we could into this year’s cap. Clubs didn’t have to do that, but we wanted to. We have plans.”

so it was a long range goal to give your last new coach very few tools with which to succeed (and even less veteran leadership), then blame him for not being successful just so you could do the opposite with this new coach? great strategy!

They have said the same thing after selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for 80 million pounds.
Took them an eternity to finally spend some of that money(after waiting for the retirements/sale of 4 senior players).

"The Bucs are in an odd situation. They don’t get much fan support even when they are playing well so why open up the checkbooks?"

The Bucs had a season ticket waiting list, yes a real one, when the team was trying to compete. Tampa fans are smart enough to realize that just because the team won 10 games a two years ago there was no reason to believe that we were on our way to greatness.

Combine a bad economy with ownership that abandoned the community by dropping spending to among the lowest in the league and fan loyalty goes out the window. The Rays and Lightning are not a comparison because Tampa has always been a football town but we seem to attract toxic owners!

If these owners wise up and start to spend their money on the product then Tampa fans will line up to spend their money on tickets. In the meantime we can see a better product at Raymond James Stadium on Saturdays for a fraction of the coin.

I think you missed the point of ky comment, those are the free agents that would be great to get, but as I said I know that the chances of getting a superstar in FA are slim to none. But for arguments sake let's say a GM could get Williams, Vincent Jackson and re-sign josh Johnson ...how would that make them the worst GM ever?

I wish I had "money to burn" Haha

I like how they have all this Money to burn and yet ticket prices (75.00 and up.) and concessions (9.00 beer) and parking is still outrageous (20.00). I got an idea... Don't "burn" though money, and don't spend so much, and make the fans happy.

With the new cba more money is literally more problems 90% of the money has to be accounted for through player personnel, and who's to say that just because you have money guys would want to come, and when that happens over paying happens, because teams will start to get desperate to spend, a good number for cap space in the type of climate that this new cba has brought upon is about 25 to 40 mil anything over that you can bet on dumb overspending.
