Clinton can still be a serviceable situation back. He has skills and can play the game. With the short passing game all the rage I believe he can contribute. He knows his feature back days are behind. If healthy I think he’s worth a gamble. Spring Hill burger and fries baby. Catch and look for a soft spot.

At least he has his valuable college education from ” The U ” and can articulate his positions and outlooks regarding the real working world that his degree has prepared him to now enter. Another sad example of a former ” student-ath a leet ” realizing too late, that majoring in football and partying has its drawbacks some fifteen years later, when you have blown your entire fortune and have NO marketable job skills.

Signing Portis to use in a reserve role is a great move for any given team. He can’t handle the full load, but he can tear it up in short yardage situations. Think about the last team that cut him…the Redskins.

Shanahan & Son seem to coach with their heads tucked into a very dark hole, so his release doesn’t mean he had nothing to offer, it was just a mix of a brilliant Shanahan move like Rex Grossman starting and a byproduct of a stacked depth chart at RB. As far as the other teams not picking him up after a workout, it’s easy to fall out of shape when you’re depressed and lose a little drive. I buy that he didn’t have the same fire, and it’s plausible that he has thrown a few logs on and stoked those flames again. If he got his work out on in the offseason, he can easily go back to punishing linebackers to pick up the first down.

You people bashing Portis ain’t right. He was a fantastic player for several years under Joe Gibbs and Zorn. But hey, no arguing he was done when Shanny let him go, he isn’t going to come back and do much if anything…Clearly it’s time for him to start putting that college degree from The “U” to work…..was that an English major, or what?

Yea… We all do.. good luck with that. I remember Madden game years back if u simulated a lot of seasons, he always ended up breaking Emmitts rushing record. I guess since he was so young and Washington was run heavy. So far for simulations.. lol

as a skins fan I liked Portis. He was a great blocking back. People bash him like he had 1 productive season like Hillis or something. Gibbs used him so much he messed the guy up. not many backs could have done what Portis did. Not gonna lie kinda of a diva at times, but the man deserves some respect.

There are enough of these stories about has-been, semi-deranged or quitter players that they should form a small league for these weeks leading up to the draft. Call it the EFL, or Ego Football League. Tiki would be in for sure, and Jamarcus and Gholston. It would be a hoot to watch them not really compete very hard against each other.
