This is interesting. I have heard talk that Mario DOESN’T like the 3-4 and of course don’t know how true that is. What is the sense of other Texans fans out there? Did he seem ok with playing the 3-4?

This is going to be a tough decision for Mario because the Texans had a fantastic defense last year and Wade is one of the best DCs in the business so it’s not like he’s not going to have a chance for team success if the Texans want to keep him either.

The Pats are 26 million under the cap. They have the ability to sign him. I would think he would get a real solid look, too. It is a logical fit for them, too.

Dallas lost out on the Nnamdi sweepstakes last year. This year, if they got a shot at Mario, there is no way they will let him get away.

DeWare and Mario on the same d-line would do a lot to aleviate the issues in the secondary. Just ask the Giants how that works.

Hopefully he means that. He makes a good point about having been a first overall pick. He’s gotten a pile of money.
Maybe he’s seen enough guys take a big contract in a bad place and not get that full contract because being there ruins their careers.
I hope he does go somewhere god. I’d like to see him be truly dominant and recognized over this next part of his career. Somehow his name just doesn’t come up as often as it should.

I’m okay with avoiding the whole “transition back to the 43 and find a trade partner for Clay Matthews” thing. Williams was playing his way out of the 34 in Houston because he was too small to be a 34 DE, and had to scoot to OLB.

I know this is just a pipe dream and the Ravens have to resign Grubbs and Rice but man Mario Williams opposite Suggs. That would be a Harrison/Woodley OLB combo on steroids. The Ravens are a base 3-4 but they run multiple fronts. Would be nice but would never happen.

Bengals are 44 mil under the cap,, and they run a 4-3 scheme. C’mon over and pair up with Carlos Dunlap, Geno Atkins, and Domato Peko. That would be a nice d-front.

You make a great case, unfortunately there is a reason the Bengals are $44 MIL under the cap. They have the worst owner in the NFL who, like Jones in Dallas, feels he knows more about football than anyone else. I feel for you Bengals fans. Brown will find a way to mess up the one-sided Palmer trade.

Idiots. Bet you wouldn’t say it to his face, or more likely his navel.

He says he already has money and stuff, he wants to thrive in a system, and he loves it where he is. That sounds true.

He is not saying he will play for the Texans, no matter what. He is not saying he would pass on being the all time highest paid defensive player, no matter who offers it. He is not saying he would turn down high offers from contenders.

I hope he does stay with the Texans, but I don’t expect they can pull it off. But if they do, let the league be advised: That’s a quality organization and they are in it for the long haul.

Over Rated. Just like any big name FA is not worth all the hastle.. all 32 teams would love to add him, he’s not bad.. but this isn’t Reggie White hitting the market, he missed an entire season and the Texans didn’t even miss him. He’d be a nice guy to have on your favorite team as everyone here seems to be saying it will be there team to land the prize, but he won’t put any defense over the top. Look at Nnamdi last year, he was a great pick up for Philly last year, he’s still a top cb, but it did not equate to wins in Philly (although DE’s make greater impact on a defense in general).. It seems like he’s worth it, but he’s not really worth it.

Mario Williams in OAK would bring some star power to a defense that needs it.

Our new defensive coaches are going to blow minds in 2012 with their creativity and aggressiveness. D. Allen coached DBs during New Orleans’ Super Bowl run and got a lot out of an “eclectic” group. Darren Sharper, Roman Harper, Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter didn’t exactly strike fear in opposing offenses coming into ’09. Just sayin’ aggressiveness is the way.
