New Raiders G.M. Reggie McKenzie didn’t look to his Packers past for a head coach. But one of McKenzie’s first acquisitions is a former member of McKenzie’s former team.

The Raiders have announced that cornerback Brandon Underwood has signed a contract.

A sixth-round draft pick in 2009, Underwood appeared in 11 regular-season games as a rookie and 12 in 2010. He has zero career starts.

Cut by the Packers after the 2011 preseason, Underwood was suspended two games after allegedly ripping a necklace from his wife on the night the team received its Super Bowl XLV rings. He was out of football in 2011.

Underwood replaces the spot previously occupied by Stanford Routt, who was released last week.
