Actually I think fans are over reacting to this one.

If Rex doesn’t openly express an intent to win a Super Bowl for the Jets they might as well fire him right now.

Guaranteeing a Super Bowl is still stupid – but making clear winning one in the short term is your goal is expected.

When Rex became head coach, I really enjoyed his confidence and his bombastic nature, though frankly this is getting a little tiresome. We all know that winning a Super Bowl is as much about team solidarity, individual execution, staying healthy as a team and frankly good luck as it is good coaching. I think that Rex’s constant claims hurt his chances of keeping his job, and will turn him into a non-factor for other coaching opportunites

Rex is always telling us how much courage he has, how only he is willing to dare, how he’s got the guts to lay it out there.

Anyone can mouth off and make “guarantees” that aren’t honored the way “guarantees” are intended.

What Rex thinks is such gutsy behavior sounds a lot more like being a blowhard – than being an honorable man of unbreakable courage.
