Butch is not going to be the DC in Tampa. This is quick stop for him while he waits on his UNC severance pay. It’s clear he wants to be a head coach again somewhere. He hasn’t coordinated a defense since 1993.

So if the Bucs win Sheridan’s stock stays the same? That doesn’t make any sense. Bellichick failed horribly at Cleveland, got another gig and became a Hall of Famer. Sheridan can rebuild his reputation if he does well with this opportunity.

If the Bucs lose and he gets fired you mean to tell me that he can’t find a college job as a DB coach? Once again, that doesn’t make any sense looking at it from Bill Sheridan’s perspective.

Never understood why people fret that so much – let’s rush to hire a Head Coach so he can get the best available assistants … instead of taking your time to ensure you have the best possible HC to lead your franchise.

Not saying Schiano was the right call per se … time will tell on that. For instance, I don’t recall anybody being psyched over the Mike McCarthy hire in Green Bay and he’s won a Super Bowl there, whereas many celebrated hires in the NFL haven’t worked out.

A) You are a defensive minded head coach yourself who will no doubt want to have some input and,

B) You have Butch Freakin Davis lurking around as a “defensive assistant”.

I mean seriously, what self-respecting professional defensive coach would walk into that situation?

Oh boy, Bucs fans, you guys are going to want him gone by week 6. Easily one of the worst DC’s in NFL history. His schemes are completely nonsensical, and he has no idea how to communicate with his players, or how to use them properly. I almost cried tears of joy when the Giants fired him.

I can’t remember a situation like this, can’t wait to see what it looks like on Sundays. Can’t see it working out well, but it’s the NFL…watch them go out and have an 11-5 season and shut everybody up. Probably would still have 7 blackouts though…

Just fold the franchise.
