Obama wants Vernon Davis to play for the Bears

San Francisco 49ers tight end Davis stands on a TV platform after scoring a touchdown against the New York Giants during the NFL NFC Championship game in San Francisco Reuters

49ers tight end Vernon Davis has become one of the team’s most important players.  If President Obama has his way, Davis will be playing for another team.

The Chicago Bears.

At a recent fund-raising event in California, Davis spoke to supporters about Obama.  And then Obama spoke about Davis.

“I want to thank Vernon Davis for being here. If you want to come and play for the Bears, you are welcome to do it,” Obama said, according to KNTV-TV (via NFL.com).

In unrelated news, Sam Francisco in San Francisco will now be wearing a Rick Santorum button, right next to the one that says “Dump Frank Gore.”

This article should have been titled: “Obama commits tampering.”

  2. daspyknows says: Feb 18, 2012 7:51 PM

He knows he has the California vote. I’m sure he wouldn’t say that about Roddy White or Julio Jones in Georgia for example.

  3. hedleykow says: Feb 18, 2012 7:55 PM

Right on. It was a display of great class that DAVIS WAS IN THE HOUSE at an Obama fund raising event. I think I’ll submit an electronic contribution right now in honor of Vernon’s gesture.

  4. hooks024 says: Feb 18, 2012 7:55 PM

Vernon david would be a waste in a mike martz offense. Unless you want to waste salary cap space on a blocker. Silly obama. He should stick to running the free world and let football guys make football decisions.

  6. theysone says: Feb 18, 2012 7:56 PM

To Omama, if you want to save yourself from being one of the worst presidents ever, you are welcomed to do it.

Unfortunately, neither he, nor I(and the American people for that matter) will get what we want.

Well I’m wearing a ‘Dump Sam Francisco’ button. How do we stop hearing about this guy? Most people don’t know who he is and those of us that do lost all respect for him after his Frank Gore rant. That was seriously one of the stupidest football arguments I’ve ever heard/read. I was embarrassed for him.

How about you find a Stan Francisco from San Francisco if you find writing that so amusing? That has to be his only value because his football chops are quite lacking.

Bush for example bankrupted the country and lost millions of jobs on his watch, allowed Wall St. and the mortgage business to spin totally out of control and wanted to let GM and Chrysler fail. Oh and he dragged us into a war on false pretenses killing thousands of our troops and hundreds of thousand innocent Iraqi civilians.

Bush was the worse president in history and it’s not even close.
I’m sure John McCaine and no brains Palin would have done any better, they’re would have steered us right into a depression like the 30′s. You should be thanking Obama for saving this country from morons like Santorum and Romney, idiots.

Just some rumblings from a moderate.

Liberals suck for letting too many criminals walk without punishment and constantly trying to drag down the good hard working people of America by taking their money and giving it to people who just waste on dumb crap. Welfare programs are necessary, just shouldn’t be so damn easy to get.

Conservatives suck because they punish way too harshly our guilty criminals for the dumbest crap. They think adding guns to every situation is some how going to help even though guns arLe a tool of war. Also, how do you take Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, and Rick Perry seriously? Also the EPA is a good thing mostly. “Job creators” shouldn’t get special treatment by the government because they supply jobs to the people of America. And can we finally get nationalized health care?

I could go on, but point is political extremes are brain dead dumb. We should base our policies off of what would be the best thing for society, not what some document written 250 years ago or what some dumb news team throws at us. That goes for Fox News and MSNBC.

  46. billb49 says: Feb 18, 2012 9:32 PM

Let’s see, he’s in the process of turning around the worst economy since the Great Depression, he’s saved the American auto industry, he’s responsible for over 26 million young people being able to stay on their parents health care programs, it’s now illegal for an insurance program to cut off your insurance if you get sick, the world’s most infamous terrorist was taken out on his watch, he has fulfilled campaign promises to take combat troops out of Iraq and is drawing down our troops in Afghanistan, over 75% of the public agrees with what he wants to do on tax policy, he wants to regulate and increase taxes on the hedge fund managers who ruined our economy and he’s put two women who don’t believe corporations are people on the Supreme Court.

Would Jesus acumulate millions of dollars and than refuse to feed the poor and less fortunate by paying a little more in taxes? Care so much about his right to have guns.

Obama constantly gets ripped for being the “Food Stamp President and things like “Obama Care”. According to everything I have ever read in the Bible, these are good things. Yet hes painted as this terrible person and President because he cares.

I think you rightwing nutjobs need to re read your bibles, you sure like to use religion when it suits you but just about everything you stand for flys in the face of Christianity.

To the football side, VD is a 49er and has been getting better and better. No stupid penalties in the future though.
On the politics, Obama is Jimmy Carter II though even worse. People need to wake up and realize the media is controlled by the government and lies to protect him and attack his opponents. He’s destroying the economy and private sector, no jobs, failed stimulus, high energy prices, destroying healthcare and insurance companies, more people dependent on government, out of control spending and debt, scandals, government control of industries, terrible foreign policy, class warefare, and ignoring rules and the constitution to move us closer to a dictatorship. Go 49ers!!!!!!

  59. db3300 says: Feb 19, 2012 2:00 AM

“Let’s see, he’s in the process of turning around the worst economy since the Great Depression…”

    - “Unemployment will reach as high as 8% if we don’t pass this stimulus bill” to pay off my big money supporters
    - 9% reported unemployment
    - 20+% actual unemployment
    - 15 trillion dollars. More than all other presidents combined – by a very wide margin.
    - “We don’t deserve to be reelected if we can’t get this economy on the right track within 3 years.”
    - “We own this economy” – said when he thought things were looking up but before they turned down.

    Some other gems:
    -”Punish your enemies”
-”So I know whose a$$ to kick”

Very presidential. When half of Hollywood turns on a liberal, you’re a disaster.

November isn’t looking good for you. Remember the bloodbath in 2010? Better dig up those bad memories. Anyone who isn’t living in California, Illinois, or New York doesn’t have the warm, fuzzy feeling about the messiah that you do.

No, thank YOU for the lunatic left-wing talking point. Actually, the “moochers” you speak of in red states receiving this government aid are primarily African-American, who ALWAYS vote for Democrats. The deep south has the heaviest concentrations of blacks than anywhere else, and seeing that 70% of black children are born out of wedlock, it is no surprise that said red states receive the most government assistance.

Independent extremes are just as “brain dead dumb” as any ideology firmly tied to party affiliation. The problem with your thinking is that you haven’t told us who you believe is qualified to decide what is “best for society”. Do you trust so easily? Has life taught you nothing about human nature? Do you even realize that you just mocked the very document that provides you with the freedom to mock it? The irony here is truly delicious.

You might refer to yourself as an “independent thinker”, but your words betray you and reveal that you are nothing more than the sheep you decry in both parties. Don’t feel bad, most people are. Man, it was a joke. Is he supposed to be a robot or something? Who wouldnt want Vernon Davis on their team? You guys really need to lighten up. I hope your days are not as sour as your comments seem to indicate.

Mention Obama and some of you just go absolutely insane.

Always love to hear the great political insight on a football website. Thanks, PFT, for posting this great “article” and providing morons with one more way to have their voices heard.

I would bet $100 that the majority of the posters dont even vote, wouldnt be able to name the state where Lincoln came from, or would absolutely fail the citizenship test.

Focus on the the nations problems here at home and abroad. Quit flapping your gums about the NFL. They have people who actually get paid to speculate you know like Solyndra? What a waste.

@ PHILLYRICK… We regressed all over your dream team on Monday Night in front of the whole nation. Philly a joke, Chicago has owned Vick and the Blackhawks celebrated on your home ice. Take your inferiority complex somewhere else. BEARS!

You are partially right. The majority of the posters voted for the first time in 2008 for HOPE and yes, CHANGE. The only got the CHANGE. Most (the non-union leadership and non-Occupy-a-welfare check-types, will vote again in 2012. Slobama knows this and is trying to play himself off as “one of the boys” with these comments. Anyone who believes that that dude isn’t campaigning 24/7, 365 isn’t paying any attention whatsoever. HE has made all things political. That’s why these blogs are blowing up! It isn’t about race. It’s about Chicago politics, ie .. Solyndra, GE (which got in good with the Gore movement & their previous ownership of MSNBC, GM (now owned by the unions). All of this was payed for (actually, will one day be paid for) by us and ours, not him and his (see Goldman Sachs). It’s as simple as that.

  84. nobamano says: Feb 20, 2012 10:42 AM

Also, hmmm … what state was Obama from? Let’s see, born is Hawaii? SS# from Connecticut? Politics from Chicago? Lincoln couldn’t have told you what state Obama was from! His history reads closer to John Wilkes Booth (ie … someone with something to hide) than Lincoln! And before you start the left-wing name calling, I don’t believe he’s not LEGALLY “qualified” to be President, I believe it’s pretty shady that everything about his background is guarded like some National Secret. The Bears will be better this year; Obama, not so much!

  85. pencepost says: Feb 21, 2012 1:07 PM

If the Bears had waited a year to fire Angelo, they could have considered Obama in their GM search.

  86. deconjonesbitchslap says: Feb 23, 2012 8:58 PM

he is the most sorry excuse for a “leader” in the history of this country.

  87. calvikefan1 says: Feb 23, 2012 9:57 PM

Being a Viking fan was the only reason I hated the Bears. Now that this socialist pos has acknowledged his love for the Bears, I really hate em!

  88. swagger52 says: Feb 24, 2012 12:04 AM

I think Obama better recruit him to Washington , so he can take on the Bishops and the Cardinals. However, it will take more than just Vernon Davis to bring down the Freedom of Religion. He better suit up Nancy Pelosi for Lingerie Football…And I ask..Where are the women? Where are the women.

  89. pantherdan says: Feb 24, 2012 12:54 AM

I thought that arab loving azzwipe has a country he is ruining! What a piece of garbage obama is. I would not piss on his face if he were on fire !

  90. pantherdan says: Feb 24, 2012 1:10 AM

On a serious note….obama has far and away done more negative things (through appointments and policy changes) than any other president in history….This damn fool has basically sold the US to China with the 14 trillion of debt and all of the new debt he will run up!

So, what happens when the red chinese decide to foreclose on his dumb azz? i bet obama thinks hey, at least when we are taken over by the chinese, i can quit faking being a baptist and then i can say i created jobs for everyone and everyone will have to work those jobs, no excuses, for 55 cents per day and the workers will have 18 hour shifts with ak-47′s on them should they think about leaving! where is whitney houston for president these days…she would be so much better…hell, even now she would be…is she still snorkling in the 90210?

  91. pantherdan says: Feb 24, 2012 1:21 AM

BTW, You sorry liberal dem idiots know I am 100% right about obama and if you want this football to really disappear (liberal do-gooder judges with ex players making the BIG OLD NASTY CORPORATION, NAMED THE NFL, PAY MORE IN DAMAGES THAN AANYONE ELSE IN HISTORY!)

These player got paid well to play! They knew the game was inherently dangerous (as they could even die practicing) yet they decided to accept the fame and fortune and risk injury instead of hauling trash!
They accepted the risk and went and played and had money, babes and rides and were players that you all dream you could be!

Now their families say the big ole bad NFL should have given their guys armored suits and steel diving helmets to play with! OMG to hell with obama and the “somebody owes me mine group of those people who vote for him!” as they are wrecking a fine country!

  92. stanmark says: Feb 25, 2012 8:58 AM

studies repeatedly show that conservatives flock to the nfl and liberals flock to the nba. this is an inarguable fact. so seeing that an obama story is met with heavy resistance here should be no surprise. its also not surprising because more people disapprove of obama’s job performance than approve- nationwide. fact.
