Samuel may not be the most complete corner in the NFL, but he has an elite skill that’s not easy to find. Deion Sanders didn’t tackle anyone either, and he’s in the Hall of Fame. I’m not saying he’s as good as Deion, but I am saying that you can be a valuable player with a limited skill set if you are among the very best at what you do. And Samuel absolutely is. Someone will have him and probably be happy with him. I hope it’s the Eagles.

I really hope the Eagles keep him. Unless u’ve seen thus guy in practice then you can’t realise how valuable he is. He chalenges s the whole defense especially the Cb’s. He makes the recievers better as well. I’d like to see DRC get a chance but this guy is if anything under rated. If some team does trade for him it will be nothing like McNabb trade. He is a shutdown corner who does take chances but comes up with big plays.

The Eagles are going to trade him. They’ll need the salary room to sign some linebackers and wrap up Shady’s contract. Beyond that, Asante has run his course. He represents everything we hate about this team, namely lack of toughness/aggression and a All-Me attitude. He’s the DeSean Jackson of the secondary, except Jackson can tackle better.

They need to not make the same mistake twice. Trade one of your corners and just get a guy who’s comfortable playing in the slot. You don’t need three superstars who all have the same role.

I’m somewhat shocked no one mentioned the following…

Samuel and DRC are strong playing on the outside. Nnamdi, they had a little more room to put him whereever they wanted, which happened to be on TEs a lot of the time. Yeah Nnamdi missed a bunch of tackles, but CBs aren’t usually expected to bring down effin’ TEs. That’s why teams put LBs on TEs because it is actually a reasonable expectation for a LB to bring down a TE. They put Aso on TEs expecting teams would not throw the ball to the TE because Aso would shut it down, but Aso was just pushed around for the most part.

Anyways, Aso needs to go back to the outside. End of the season, Samuel was out and Aso and DRC played outside with Hanson in the nickel. Coverage looked drastically better.

With Samuel, Asomugha, and DRC, we have 3 solid CBs who play their best football on the outside. Only reason we should keep all three is for depth, but every Eagles fan knows we have plenty of depth behind those three.

Samuel played his best in that system under Romeo Crennel.

To bad Reid is so stubborn, he will demand 15 first round picks for him…..and then end up keeping him because he couldn’t get the right price.

If Roseman thinks the lack of preparation last year is why the Eagles defense sucked then it really doesn’t matter what we do with Samuel. He better figure out that what the defense really needs is some tough players with heart.

Hehas led the entire league in interceptions over the past 3 or 4 years. they tried to trade him last year too, it’s mostly based on money because he is hitting the back end of a huge contract. he hopefully will be willing to rework his deal (with getting a good signing bonus) for us to trade him. I’ve like him as a player, I think he gets more hate then he deserves. he will make game changing plays on D where ever he plays next year. hope we get something good if the trade is pulled off.

Anybody that thinks the Eagles only have 3 good cornerbacks are greatly mistaken they have 3 really good young cornerbacks behind DRC,Naamdi and Samuel.So getting rid of Samuels big salary only makes good business sense.Then they can use that money other places like signing DeSean Jackson to a long term deal.

He may not be great but he is serviceable.

All it takes is one Corner to go down in training camp and they will regret letting him go.

Asante still is a good corner. Needs the right fit. I just hope The Birds can get a descent pick for him. Maybe work out a deal for Chiefs free agent linebacker…he”s 6′-3′ 240# Asante wasn’t that bad but, if he has to go, take Matthews and the other two linebackers with him. They are most of the problem. Fans forget a third string running back ran for over 100 yards in the last meaning less game. The safties stink too. Two of them 2nd round picks. Who will be the Birds…Jerome McDougal, Stacy Andrews, Brandon, or 28 year old fireman this year? Reid makes horrible decesions over and over and over and over……
