Chiefs announce arrivial of Routt

Stanford Routt, Marques Colston AP

It’s official.  The Chiefs have announced the arrival of veteran cornerback Stanford Routt.

“Stanford has a proven record of success in the NFL,” coach Romeo Crennel said, via the team-issued release.  “He’s a talented player that has spent seven seasons in the AFC West, so he is familiar with us and our division opponents. We are excited to have Stanford join the team, and we are looking forward to getting started.”

“We are excited that we were able to come to terms with Stanford,” G.M. Scott Pioli added.  “He is a talented player, and as we have said in the past, we are always looking to add competition at every position year-round.  Stanford’s experience and level of play will make him a solid addition to our defense.”

Routt also had visited the Bills and Bengals.

As we pointed out earlier in the day, the Chiefs use the same man-to-man coverages with which Routt is familiar from his time in Oakland.  Some Raiders fans may actually find that encouraging.

If I’m not mistaken, looking at his left arm he’s even committing pass interference in this picture.

Wrong. Most Raiders fans may actually find that encouraging.

From the biggest losers to the 2nd or 3rd biggest losers. Lateral move.

From a Raider fan, Routt is a good corner who is a great fit for a defensive style that relies primarily on man to man coverage. I can see the Raiders logic in cutting him but he’s a solid player and this is a good pick-up for Kansas City

Chief fans are going to love Romeo Crenel, that is for sure.

“Stanford has a proven record of costly penalties and being torched for touchdowns in the NFL,” coach Romeo Crennel said…”

Eff, we draft Carr in the mid rounds, develope him, he’s due to get paid and we take the cheap route(Routt)…

AKA Joe Horn, Donnie Edwards, Jared Allen. Since Carl Peterson is long gone all signs are pointing to the Hunts the one being the cheap azz.

Now, if the re-sign Carr, use Routt as a Nickel and replace Arenas I’m down with that. 37 million under the cap seems that can be done. Maybe Todd Haley finally got it through Pioli’s thick skull that not having decent backups can cost you the season! Pioli won’t have the luxury of blaming the HC after last years jack up. No decent backup S’s, no QB’s, and no lineman.

HAHAHA, “Arrivial” is right. LOL. Great time for a misspell.

Raiders fans are thrilled they get to face this fool twice a year. He’s terrible; the most overpaid DB in NFL history.

NFL referees are now reporting to spring training with pitchers and catchers to get ready for Routt’s flag fest in KC.

Seriously, that guy is a liability. I watched opposing offenses just isolate him play after play knowing that their WR could make every play if he’s one-on-one with Stan Routt.

Wasnt there a routt in k.c every week last year

These PackerSaints fans are relentless. It’s not Stanford’s fault Hue Jackson decided to go mostly zone after week 5 or so. On top of that he had Matt Giordono as his safety help. You do the math.

All this Pass interference commentary is laughable. Its not Routt’s fault that Roger Goodell destroyed the game so that you cant touch the receiver. Nnamdi struggled this year, even Revis did because it is so ridiculously unfair to the defensive backs in this league.

Routt will excel where they play man to man and not some multiple zone crap.

maybe after the Chiefs see Routt sucks as a DB they can get that mascot thing they have to play in the secondary.Seriously what the hell is that supposed to be?

Carr wanted Flowers type money and chiefs weren’t going to pay it.

I bet KC cuts him by week 8.. This guy will be out of the NFL in 2 years

I know Raider fans stick to a brotherhood, but brother what games were you watching? Routt was horrible. One of the worst signing of all times for the Raiders because not only did we over pay him, we lost Nnamdi in the process. Talk about two steps backwards.

Raiders WRs and Palmer are saying, “Wow, can’t wait to face him twice a year!”

So Routt is the toast of the town in KC now? Soon to be burnt toast.

I thought KC had pretty good corners last year, this is definitely going to be a downgrade for the Chiefs.
