I am not an Osi fan, however that being stated I would offer him a contract for about 6 a year for 3 years. Give him a decent bonus.

He is a bit of a crybaby, however most of the players are. He at least played well enough to help a really bad defense get better when it counted.

He does have injury problems, that is why you don't offer him the big bucks, however give him something and he will be fine.

I hope the Giants keep Osi for as long as they can. As much as he might have complained off the field earlier in the season, one thing you don’t see is it’s affects on the field. He is no Desean Jackson that is for sure. He plays 110% when he steps on the field no matter what and you could see the effects of having him back on the line at the end of the season.

I’m not sure that the Giants are going to re-do his contract since they are over the cap by a good amount, but I hope that they can figure out a way to keep him because he is still a great player.

--------

1) Giants aren't over the cap.
2) Giants have exceptions coming up that will free up cap space.
3) Giants will shed a few million after letting guys like Rocky Bernard (and possibly) Kareem McKenzie go, along with a few others.

There will be about $10M or so in cap space when the time to sign free agents arrives. Offer Osi a sizeable bonus or scrap the current deal and tag him (not likely -- but he'd get twice what he would be earning in a base salary otherwise). The Giants have options, but DEs are tricky. Many contribute greatly well into their 30s. Osi is going on 31, so injuries notwithstanding, he should be able to play at a high level and maintain his greatest asset (speed) for another 2-3 years. That would be the basis of a contract offer from the Giants IF they decide to do it.

No one really knows what Jerry is going to do, not even he -- because he won't know what kind of space he has until mid-March -- so anything else is speculative. The ball is in the front office's court, so even Osi has no idea what his future is. Having said that, it's galling to see the number of people who THINK they know what will happen in the coming months as relates to Umenyiora and a contract.

Here’s what the NFC, Dream Team and Dallas Romos have to look forward to in 2012:

1) Osi playing in a contract year for one last payday.
2) JPP another year wiser.
3) Finally healthy Tuck.
4) Kiwanuka – coming off a full injury-free year at LB.

Sprinkle in a little Tolly, Canty and Linval and it will be hard to stop the Giants from repeating.

———————————————————————————–

Yeah ask the Packer fans how that worked out this year. Remember the 2008 Giants? How’d that repeat go? Probably getting a little carrried away.

---------
No one stopped the Giants from repeating on the FIELD. Burress shot the team's repeat chances down. Had he not done that, aside from the typical Giants letdown to inferior competition in the Browns game -- no one was beating us in 2008.

And the team should be getting that DOZEN OR SO key starters and contributors who landed on IR back in 2013. Aside from no new injuries and typical excellent drafting by Reese, and a solid free agent pickup, I'd say the Giants are primed to repeat.

Actually doing it is a different story, but the Packers don't have the defense the Giants have, so your comparison is moot.

Oh here he goes again. And here will go the NY fans flip flopping on this guy. Just like Manning, Coughlin, Gilbride, A-rod, Melo.

And soon to be Jeremy Lin.

---------

It's not "flip flopping", it's CALLING IT WHAT IT IS. You outta town clowns love to worship players and coaches and act as if they can do no wrong. New Yorkers give you praise when it is due, and light into you when you deserve it.

Between you types and the clowns who utter the time-proven (false) assertion that "players sign the contracts, they are obligated to fulfill it" are enough to make us all be required to take two to three years of social science and legal basics. So many commenters who make foolish statements about New York sports fans and contractual "obligations" are an embarrassment to mankind.

It's a safe bet that the majority of the people who read these articles including myself weren't even alive the last time the Eagles won a Championship.

While Eagle fan had to witness the likes of the JETS, Bucs, Chiefs, and Saints all win SuperBowls.

WOW! The Eagles of 1960 became the only team to defeat the Packers in the playoffs. LETS SEE THE NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS just became the only team to Defeat the Packers twice in Green Bay in the Playoffs, including this years 15 and 1 team.

So a trophy makes you great. Lets call Dan Marino and let him know he sucked because he never won the lombardi. Eli couldnt hold marino’s jock.

In 1960, the Eagles won their third NFL championship, under the leadership of future Pro Football Hall of Famers Norm Van Brocklin and Chuck Bednarik; the head coach was Buck Shaw. The 1960 Eagles, by a score of 17–13, became the only team to defeat Vince Lombardi and his Packers in the playoffs.
----------------------------------------------
Dude each time you post you look sillier.

We all know it's been 52 years since you guys won anything. We also all know that regular season winning streaks are for losers.

As for Eli not carrying Marino's jock, Eli has 2 SB MVP trophies. Even if you perennial losers in Philly do not want to give him his due, he is one of the premier QB's playing the game today. He almost always delivers when it's about the money, Eli is a MONEY QB! That has been proven over & over.

Vick holds the distinction of being someone that has never delivered in a big game, has always been a turnover machine & is well known & hated everywhere for being the most sadistic individual to ever put on an NFL uniform.

Yes compared to the string of QB your team has fielded in the last 50 years or so, Eli is GREAT!

Since teams don't have to honor contracts and can cut players, the players ought to be able to seek renegotiation as well. However, I don't get why players sign such long term contracts if they feel they are elite enough. They also ought to know or at least be advised that the market is always going up in pro football and the demand for the next guy will be higher. If their ego demands that they cannot tolerate not being one of the highest paid player at any time, then they should sign shorter contracts. Simple.

The only problem with this article is at the end ... "one of their starting defensive ends".

The fact is, Osi is not a starter on a team with JPP and Tuck. He's always been best as a 3rd down pass rushing specialist (maybe one of the best all time at that).

That's the dilemna in his situation. He's not an every down player, and getting about $4MM. Plus he's 31 this season, and his talent is speed. I'm afraid the Giants and every other team in the league doesn't want to do a big contract with a guy like that.

So a trophy makes you great. Lets call Dan Marino and let him know he sucked because he never won the lombardi. Eli couldnt hold marino’s jock.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

No Giants fan said that. And a "trophy" makes you greater than a regular season win. You Eagles fans brag about that streak of regular season wins over the Giants all you want. You know as well as I do you would trade EVERY ONE of those wins for the bragging rights for a year like the Giants have right now. Chew on that for a while.

Eagle fan SHUTUP! The NFC East has won 12 SuperBowls and the Eagles have won none of them. NONE!

So go ahead and count your meaningless regular season wins and your 2 Miracle at the Meadowlands. The GIANTS will continue to count SuperBowl Trophies.

The Redskins beat the GIANTS twice this year, yet I don't see any Redskin fans posting anything. You know why because they know it means nothing. Redskin Fans are smart and undertand the "Big Picture". Unlike DUMB Eagle fans.

DON'T POST ANYTHING UNTIL YOUR TEAMS WINS ONE JUST ONE SUPERBOWL. NOTHING EAGLE FAN HAS TO SAY MATTERS. 1960, 1960, 1960, 1960, 1960, 1960

Did he sign a contract in some interim period, where he wasnt a great player yet, but was ending a rookie contract?

I dont understand why he is complaining about his contract. He is the one that signed it. It isnt like Tom Coughlin forged your name or something.

Why didnt you negotiate for more? Im positive there is another team out there that would top 4 mill per season. Im an Eagles fan, and I would LOVE

I'm sure you as an Eagles fan are perfectly happy spending the rest of your life not seeing your team win a Superbowl right? I highly doubt it. The reason you try to claim the regular season is because that is all you can claim. And I really can't believe you brought up a game that was played over 50 years ago. That's like the Cubs bringing up the 1908 World series win.

Gilbride has been up and down, however, Eli loves him, therefore we want him around to dominate your team for the next 8 years.

dallassux – First, the Packers ran into us or else they would have repeated. As for 08′, we would have repeated if Plax didn’t shoot himself. Meet me here in twelve months and you can try arguing whether the Giants are a dynasty.

You love your Giant's and that's cool..congrats on the win. But,let's slow down on the dynasty talk here. The Giant's peaked at the right time just like the Packer's did last year. It's not like they came in and dominated the Pat's either-it took a sideline hailmary on a late game winning drive. So again, congrats but try being a little more realistic
