He is a bit of a crybaby, however most of the players are. He at least played well enough to help a really bad defense get better when it counted.

He does have injury problems, that is why you don’t offer him the big bucks, however give him something and he will be fine.

I’m not sure that the Giants are going to re-do his contract since they are over the cap by a good amount, but I hope that they can figure out a way to keep him because he is still a great player.

There will be about $10M or so in cap space when the time to sign free agents arrives. Offer Osi a sizeable bonus or scrap the current deal and tag him (not likely — but he’d get twice what he would be earning in a base salary otherwise). The Giants have options, but DEs are tricky. Many contribute greatly well into their 30s. Osi is going on 31, so injuries notwithstanding, he should be able to play at a high level and maintain his greatest asset (speed) for another 2-3 years. That would be the basis of a contract offer from the Giants IF they decide to do it.

No one really knows what Jerry is going to do, not even he — because he won’t know what kind of space he has until mid-March — so anything else is speculative. The ball is in the front office’s court, so even Osi has no idea what his future is. Having said that, it’s galling to see the number of people who THINK they know what will happen in the coming months as relates to Umenyiora and a contract.

No one stopped the Giants from repeating on the FIELD. Burress shot the team’s repeat chances down. Had he not done that, aside from the typical Giants letdown to inferior competition in the Browns game — no one was beating us in 2008.

And the team should be getting that DOZEN OR SO key starters and contributors who landed on IR back in 2013. Aside from no new injuries and typical excellent drafting by Reese, and a solid free agent pickup, I’d say the Giants are primed to repeat.

Actually doing it is a different story, but the Packers don’t have the defense the Giants have, so your comparison is moot.

As for Eli not carrying Marino’s jock, Eli has 2 SB MVP trophies. Even if you perennial losers in Philly do not want to give him his due, he is one of the premier QB’s playing the game today. He almost always delivers when it’s about the money, Eli is a MONEY QB! That has been proven over & over.

Vick holds the distinction of being someone that has never delivered in a big game, has always been a turnover machine & is well known & hated everywhere for being the most sadistic individual to ever put on an NFL uniform.

Yes compared to the string of QB your team has fielded in the last 50 years or so, Eli is GREAT!

The fact is, Osi is not a starter on a team with JPP and Tuck. He’s always been best as a 3rd down pass rushing specialist (maybe one of the best all time at that).

That’s the dilemna in his situation. He’s not an every down player, and getting about $4MM. Plus he’s 31 this season, and his talent is speed. I’m afraid the Giants and every other team in the league doesn’t want to do a big contract with a guy like that.

Individual players should not be solely judged on not winning championships, but a Team most certainly can be judged on it.

I’m sure you as an Eagles fan are perfectly happy spending the rest of your life not seeing your team win a Superbowl right? I highly doubt it. The reason you try to claim the regular season is because that is all you can claim. And I really can’t believe you brought up a game that was played over 50 years ago.
