Pittsburgh’s running game has been mediocre for the last four seasons, and yet, they have a combined record of 45-19 in that period of time, with three playoff appearances, two division championships, two conference championships, and one Super Bowl championship. So basically, not only are you guilty of the correlation/causation fallacy, but your timeline is off too. Those little details just get in the way, don’t they?

As you can see, Roethlisberger has posted a passer rating of 90.0+ in eight of his last 12 season quarters, and 100.0+ in six of his last 12 season quarters. Doesn’t look like he’s fooling around in every quarter but the fourth to me.

By the way, Roethlisberger’s 90.1 passer rating in 2011 is still higher than all but two of Eli Manning’s single-season ratings. Really, Giants fans don’t have much room to call other QBs overrated, especially considering everybody’s proclaimed Eli Manning to be “elite” in the last few weeks. Never mind that Roethlisberger has a better career winning percentage, completion percentage, TD percentage, INT percentage, TD/INT ratio and passer rating than Eli does, plus more yards per game and yards per attempt. Great, Eli’s played well in the Super Bowl, but then again, so did Jim Plunkett, Doug Williams and Jeff Hostetler, yet that didn’t magically make any of them elite QBs. For that matter, playing poorly in the Super Bowl didn’t prevent Fran Tarkenton, John Elway or Jim Kelly from being elite QBs either.

I mean, it is nice when the boss calls, however you would think that Ben would want to make sure to meet his new coach, whether he likes him or not.

They will have to work together, the Rooneys like Ben but still found it necessary to hire Haley. That should tell him something.

Ben is a future hall of fame quarterback. Nobody is going to remember who this Todd Haley guy is 15 years from now. Ben should keep that in mind and not lower himself to Haley’s level.

Its a receipe for disaster, as he crushed Matt Cassel’s confidence, went against Pioli, sold out Bill Muir, then took over OC duties, and the Chiefs regressed even more (albiet they had injuries to major starters).

Horrific hire. Tomlin better watch his back, i think it was telling when Tomlin was like “Im on board with Haley” line days after the hire.

Its no coincidence Charlie Weis split before the season ended to a OC job. He’s a wanna be Bill Parcells type (without the rings or respect from his team)

half the time, Cassel would be yelling back at him, as were a number of players. You could argue he fired them up, but it backfired often with petty final game accusations of running the score up…I can believe they let this guy into the Blast Furnace….

Should they be in contact? Yes, but Tomlin still has the final OK over the playbook.

I think Ben knows that the plays shouldn’t change too drastically, just the order in which they were called.

That was the biggest problem with Arians. Sometimes every route by the receiver would be 25 yards long and he would call all of the plays in succession.

Individually, those are good plays. But back to back to back, when they didn’t work the first time usually spells disaster.

Oh please. Eli has 2 superbowls exclusively because of his defense.

I can tell you right now that he would have 0 if he was playing with Pitt’s D.

Despite the fact that Pitt’s D is perpetually #1 or #2 in the league, Brady usually carves them up. And in 2007, the Giants won because their defense held the highest scoring offense in league history to 14 points.

Each offensive coordinator has a system with an invented language that’s fairly unique … and I suspect you’d want your starting quarterback to be able to master it before the season kicks off.
