ummmm.. I will take the white guy since its been proven that blacks qbs can not win championships
I know people get all crazy when Limbuagh said that but its true.
Would yo rather have Tom Brady or Vick as your qb?
Cam Newton or Brees?
Vince Young or Eli Manning
Its not racist its just facts… I would take Darren Mcfadden over Danny Woodhead, I would take Peterson over Hillis
Just a fact.
Stop being so sensitive about it and just take it for what it is…
----------------------------------------

While I dont agree with the racist connotation of your post, I myself would also rather have a pocket passer than a running QB.

As an Eagles fan, Im tired of watching "mobile" QBs NOT win championships. Yes, Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, and Mike Vick have been fun to watch. They are very entertaining.

But I honestly believe that if we had a pocket passer, we would have won a Super Bowl by now. Instead, we get erratic play from mobile QBs that are also inconsistent.

I dont, however, care if that pocket passer is purple, black, white, yellow, orange, or plaid. Just give me a guy that can win a game when the chips are down. As much as I hate the Giants, I completely envy having a guy that will walk his team down the field in the ending minutes of the SB to win.

When my team was in that position in 2004, my mobile QB threw 4 incompletions, 3 of which hit the ground 3-5 feet in front of the receiver. So instead of winning a championship in the last minute, we pitched a 3 and out.

Never have understood the decision of a Qb who declines to throw at the combine. Obviously does not feel confident for some reason. One thing a Qb should always have is confidence in his arm.

But why choose to run? If he feels he has nothing to prove by his passing, why does he feel he needs to run? Everyone already knows he is fast. What does he gain by running? Hope he doesn't get hurt, but how ironic would it be if he blew an ACL while running drills at the combine. Makes no sense..

@huejackson,
Are you suggesting that Doug Williams isn’t black or that he wasn’t a QB?

Mjkelly77,

No need for you to continue to post on every story. We already know why you don’t like certain athletes.

Bigots used to be full of entertainment value. You two are just full of misinformation. Enjoy!

The folks claiming that he won't run a 4.5 at the combine ... what do you base this on?

Maybe this:

"In track, he broke state records for the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. He ran the 110-meter hurdles in 13.55 seconds, and the 300-meter hurdles in 35.33 seconds. The 300-hurdles time was one-hundredth of a second short of breaking the national high school record. He was also a gold medalist in the 110 and 400-meter hurdles on the AAU track and field circuit. He sprinted 13.46 in the 110-meter hurdles and 49.56 in the 400-meter hurdles as a junior in high school. In 2007, as a junior, he was rated the No. 1 high school 400-meter immediate hurdler in the country, and was tied at No. 1 for the 110-meter sprint hurdler in the nation. "

Or this:

"Earned All-America status in outdoor track and field during spring 2008 (early enrollee) before freshman season of football... Selected to Texas UIL All-Century Boys Track and Field prep team in May 2010... 2010 Academic All-District VI and Academic All-Big 12 first team

Track & Field All-American after finishing third at NCAA Outdoor Championships in 400-meter hurdles (49.55)... Won Big 12 gold medal in 400-meter hurdles with third-fastest time (49.22) in school history."

Yeah. Believing that he won't run a 4.5 40 is perfectly grounded in reason and logic ... it is obvious that most of the RG3 bashers have never seen the guy play.

Realitypolice, if the Colts asked Luck not to participate in the scouting combine it isnt because they are afraid he will get injured, its because he will be throwing in front of other teams. The power of the scouting combine at work.
===========================

1) I never said they were afraid he would get injured. I didn't give any reason why they asked him not to, just that they did.

2) Why the hell would they care if other teams saw him throw? They have the number one pick, it's not like someone can jump them. And I doubt opposing scouts would be able to get much intelligence on how to stop him (if that's what you mean) by watching him throw out patterns to strangers in shorts.

I'm pretty sure they have all the tape they need, and the Colts can't stop them from coming to his Pro Day, where he WILL throw.

They don't want him to throw because it's pointless. And only stupid waste time doing pointless things.

I really think its the right decision not to throw until his pro-day.

It would be one thing if he ran an option offense and only threw a handful of passes the whole season.

It would be another if his completion percentage was specious going into the combine and he was having to fight his way out of the future WR label.

But neither of those things are the case -- there's little doubt that he has a quality arm with a 70% completion percentage.

Guys like Tebow and Pat White need to throw in front of scouts every chance they get to prove they're not TE's or WR's. Everyone knows RGIII will be a QB. Let the combine do what the combine is best at -- measuring quantitative metrics of physical performance.

Which shows you how much stock teams put in combing throwing.

So does that mean if a team drafts him they also have to draft his Baylor receivers so he has someone he knows to throw to?
========================

Umm.........no. I am pretty sure that he will get to know the recievers on his team during the 3 or 4 minicamps, a full training camp, and 4 preseason games.

At least a little better than he would know some combine reciever he met 5 minutes before he threw to him.

ummmm.. I will take the white guy since its been proven that blacks qbs can not win championships
I know people get all crazy when Limbuagh said that but its true.
Would yo rather have Tom Brady or Vick as your qb?
Cam Newton or Brees?
Vince Young or Eli Manning
Its not racist its just facts... I would take Darren Mcfadden over Danny Woodhead, I would take Peterson over Hillis
Just a fact.
Stop being so sensitive about it and just take it for what it is...

You want to see him throw? Why don’t you turn on one of the many games he’s played in? If you want to see him throwing in shorts then you can wait until Baylor’s pro day

If a quarterback wants to participate in the scouting combine, they should be required to do everything for quarterbacks. Throwing to new people in a new environment shows a lot of very specific things that more likely than not will have actual relevance, like nerves. So instead of using the opportunity to grow, or prove they have already grown, quarterbacks are sacrificing a key small piece of their development to not risk sliding down in the draft, and unless they've already had something that grows you like throwing in the scouting combine, their confidence and nerves will be slightly off most likely during the preseason and the regular season.

Unbelievable.

I can't fathom the reaction to this.

HE IS NOT REFUSING TO ALLOW TEAMS TO SEE HIM THROW.

He is making the decision not to throw to wide outs he's never met without having any time to practice with them- a situation he will NEVER find himself in once he is on a team.

He is making the prudent choice that is made by a majority of top NFL prospects- something like 10 out of the last 13- and choosing to throw at his pro day to recievers he is familiar with.

You know- like he will when he is in the pros.

Eli Manning didn't throw at the combine.
Philip Rivers didn't throw at the combine.
Ben Rothlisberger did, and his poor performance there is often listed as a reason both of those guys were drafted before him.

By the way, Luck is most likely not throwing either.

Get over it.
