While I dont agree with the racist connotation of your post, I myself would also rather have a pocket passer than a running QB.

As an Eagles fan, Im tired of watching “mobile” QBs NOT win championships. Yes, Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, and Mike Vick have been fun to watch. They are very entertaining.

But I honestly believe that if we had a pocket passer, we would have won a Super Bowl by now. Instead, we get erratic play from mobile QBs that are also inconsistent.

I dont, however, care if that pocket passer is purple, black, white, yellow, orange, or plaid. Just give me a guy that can win a game when the chips are down. As much as I hate the Giants, I completely envy having a guy that will walk his team down the field in the ending minutes of the SB to win.

When my team was in that position in 2004, my mobile QB threw 4 incompletions, 3 of which hit the ground 3-5 feet in front of the receiver. So instead of winning a championship in the last minute, we pitched a 3 and out.

But why choose to run? If he feels he has nothing to prove by his passing, why does he feel he needs to run? Everyone already knows he is fast. What does he gain by running? Hope he doesn’t get hurt, but how ironic would it be if he blew an ACL while running drills at the combine. Makes no sense..

Yeah. Believing that he won’t run a 4.5 40 is perfectly grounded in reason and logic … it is obvious that most of the RG3 bashers have never seen the guy play.

1) I never said they were afraid he would get injured. I didn’t give any reason why they asked him not to, just that they did.

2) Why the hell would they care if other teams saw him throw? They have the number one pick, it’s not like someone can jump them. And I doubt opposing scouts would be able to get much intelligence on how to stop him (if that’s what you mean) by watching him throw out patterns to strangers in shorts.

I’m pretty sure they have all the tape they need, and the Colts can’t stop them from coming to his Pro Day, where he WILL throw.

They don’t want him to throw because it’s pointless. And only stupid waste time doing pointless things.

It would be one thing if he ran an option offense and only threw a handful of passes the whole season.

It would be another if his completion percentage was specious going into the combine and he was having to fight his way out of the future WR label.

But neither of those things are the case — there’s little doubt that he has a quality arm with a 70% completion percentage.

Guys like Tebow and Pat White need to throw in front of scouts every chance they get to prove they’re not TE’s or WR’s. Everyone knows RGIII will be a QB. Let the combine do what the combine is best at — measuring quantitative metrics of physical performance.

Umm………no. I am pretty sure that he will get to know the recievers on his team during the 3 or 4 minicamps, a full training camp, and 4 preseason games.

At least a little better than he would know some combine reciever he met 5 minutes before he threw to him.

I can’t fathom the reaction to this.

HE IS NOT REFUSING TO ALLOW TEAMS TO SEE HIM THROW.

He is making the decision not to throw to wide outs he’s never met without having any time to practice with them- a situation he will NEVER find himself in once he is on a team.

He is making the prudent choice that is made by a majority of top NFL prospects- something like 10 out of the last 13- and choosing to throw at his pro day to recievers he is familiar with.

You know- like he will when he is in the pros.

Eli Manning didn’t throw at the combine.
Philip Rivers didn’t throw at the combine.
Ben Rothlisberger did, and his poor performance there is often listed as a reason both of those guys were drafted before him.

By the way, Luck is most likely not throwing either.

If you’re going to run and risk a hamstring pull, then you might as well throw the ball….remember, you’re a QB.

Tebow on the other hand made the right call, he didn’t throw at the combine for obvious reasons and was able to fool a team into drafting him in the 1st.
