Ben Roethlisberger restructured his contract (the fourth or so to do so), saving the Steelers $8 million against the cap. Which means the Steelers will be near or even below the cap, once it is finally announced. More importantly, it means more $ available to re-sign Mike Wallace. So the Ravens and Browns fans have no clue what they are talking about. They are the same ones who said the Steelers would be 6-10 last year. And the year before. Here are two clues: a. the Steelers just finished 12-4 and went to the SB the year before, and b. even in the very rare down years, the Steelers never finish at or below .500. You can look this stuff up.

Ball was knocked out of his hands on a great play by the CB. Maybe that’s what happens when a QB that can’t make a play throws to a WR that had 4 catches during the regular season. That would be like Brady depending on Ocho to win the SB for him. He’d know better. ravens fans are the most delusional, excuse making fans in sports. At least the steelers had injuries. ravens just couldn’t get it done,again. I’m sure you’ll be happy if they pay Flacco. I will be too.

What can you possibly hang your hat on this season? NOTHING! Steelers were swept by their nemesis, the Ravens. Oh congrats, I forgot you made it to the playoffs. I guess that deserves some praise if your team wasn’t one and done, delivered by who other than, TIM TEBOW!

Let that soak in for a moment. Until next season, when the Steelers can redeem themselves, I wouldn’t talk much. I’m proud of my team. A dropped pass away from the Super Bowl seems much more promising than being Tebow’d and an offseason of uncertainty coupled with coaching turnover.

I dont see the Pats doing this, but hey, Belichick would be better off with Wallace than just trading down every year. Of course they would have to give him a hefty contract, which means Welker might have to go, because they arent signing both guys to big deals- So I dont see it.

Of course, the Pats wouldnt be in this mess if they just drafted Wallace themselves:

3rd rd, 2009 draft, pick 18: Pats, WR Brandon Tate.

3rd rd, 2009 draft, pick 19: Steelers, WR Mike Wallace.

Please do your research. The Steelers have NEVER offered a player the 1st + 3rd round tender EVER … and we’ve had tons of great players hit the market as RFAs.

Please read the quote you included in your post. The Steelers would receive a 1st rd pick from the team that picked him up, instead of a 1st + 3rd as it was before they new CBA.

Let Wallace walk. Draft Danny Coale out of Va. Tech in the 3rd or 4th. He runs almost like Wallace & blocks like Ward. Trade Big Ben to Indy for this year’s & next year’s 1st rounders. Draft Luck! And get a cornerback & tackle in the first round!

As a die hard Ravens fan, I am salivating over this developing rumor. Idk if I agree with giving the Squealers a first round pick, but Mike Wallace is intriguing. Wallace and Smith playing the outs, and Boldin taking the slot, we would be unstoppable. I can’t wait until March.

Lock him up for the Niners, he is totally worth it for the cash and the first rounder #30. We would now have an elite WR corps with Crabtree as #2, Morgan as #3 (hopefully he resigns), and Vernon and Delanie as our TE’s. Smith would grow even better and we have the stud Kaepernick waiting in the weeds.

Pittsburgh fans who are sweatin Wallace leaving, ask yourself this. Who would you rather have as your #1 receiver – Wallace or A. Brown? If you’re answer is Wallace, then you either didn’t watch many games last year, or you’re overly-excited about speed.

As much as I love having Wallace on the B&G – Brown as #1, Sanders, draft pick, and current vets are more than capable of carrying the load.

And with the addt’l 1st-round pick and money saved by not franchising Wallace …. I’d rather see them spend a few $M on a shut-down corner opposite 24. Or here’s a crazy concept…O-Line?

Now that I re-read my post, I guess I’m now in the “get this trade done” camp.

I can’t help but laugh.

Instead of cutting 1 or 2 of those slow old geezers on
defense, they are probably gonna lose a young guy
that they will have a lot more trouble replacing.

This is an early sign of things to come with this team.
Being foolish in the handling of their salary cap is
gonna cost them BIG TIME in the next couple of years.

Daniel Snyder thinks he can do it…..That is why the skins are the skins.

I think Wallace will be in Cincinnati next year, the combination of draft picks, cap space, young talent etc…

That is best case scenario for Baltimore, get Wallace out of Pitt, don’t give up a first rounder, be ready for the secondary to bring it when they play Cinci.

While I would love the move for the Pats you have to think Belichick would not use a first rounder plus the $ to sign Wallace when he could sign a FA receiver. Why give up the 1st rounder when you can get Lloyd, Bowe, Johnson without giving a pick up? Doesn’t sound like something he would do but I would be for it. The offense would be even better with him. As long as Welker as is back too.

Uhm, it is both. Wallace is great, look at stats. We are also are okay if he leaves as we are loaded with great young wideouts and as you know, usually when players leave the Steelers (not always, but usually), they don’t perform as well on their next gig. See Faneca, Santonio Holmes, etc. But the Steelers just load up once again.

Frankly I don’t much care if he stays or goes. I can’t do anything about it either way. Yes, I would like to see him stay with us. Yes, he is a very fast deep threat. Yes, he has a great yards-per-catch stat. Yes, he has dropped a number of important catches. Yes, the Steelers will survive whether he stays or goes. No, Wallace isn’t the most important player on the team. Yes, they have other nice WR’s with Antonio at the top of the list.

Don’t agonize over this too much folks. The Steelers will make the best decision they can, given the circumstances. I would like to see them keep Wallace, but if they don’t it won’t be the end of the world by any means. Won’t even be close.

Cap deadline isnt till the 13th of March… not worried at all. I love Wallace, I love Brown and I think Sanders and Cotchry are very formidable receiving corp. No way to keep them all in the future as I think once Sanders gets more of an opportunity like brown, He will show that he too is going to be one heck of a player. If we got a first rounder for Wallace…I could handle that if it came to be … Brown Cotchry and Sanders would not be a bad line up either. Really not worried too much about it. But i do think that when all is said and done they will find a way to keep him

He has to learn a new offense if he stays or goes. Roethlisberger doesn’t think his young receivers can progress in a new offense because he thinks they are stupid. Given Ben’s thoughts they’d be better with a first round pick.

Ha, big deal. Here is the reality:

The Steelers have 2 super stud wide receivers. Wallace was NOT the MVP of the team, Antonio Brown was.

You mentioned Emmanuel Sanders as well. He is a fine second receiver.

If the Steelers have two first round draft picks, and they will be cutting a number of older players that will rapidly trim cap space.

They have Colon coming back at right tackle under a solid contract.

Nice try, but it is not doom, doom, doom. Hines Ward hardly played by the end of the year. Aaron Smith missed most of the year. DB McFadden will also be cut. Keaumatu will be cut.

Would I hate to lose Wallace? Of course, he blows the top off of the defense and opens up the crossing routes for others.

But do the Ravens sign Ray Rice? Do they extend Flacco? Is Ed Reed going to keep playing? Does Ray Lewis get out of town?

New England has to sign Welker. Or not. They have a shakey defense.

Everyone has something. Let it play out.

He is nothing more then a speed WR. The steelers could find an easy replacement for him. Guys that can do nothing but stretch the field are a dime a dozen. Other then running a deep post or fly pattern the guy doesn’t add any other value. They already have brown and sanders who are the same type W. WHY waste cap space on three wrs that are the same?
