Polian talks up Reggie Wayne

Peyton Manning won’t be the only guy waving to Indy in the rear-view mirror this year.  Receiver Reggie Wayne likely will be doing the same.

The man who drafted Manning and Wayne thinks Wayne should find a high demand for his services.  Former Colts Vice Chairman Bill Polian made the case for Wayne earlier today on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

[Wayne] has a brilliant football mind,” Polian said Thursday, while co-hosting with Alex Marvez.  “He understands the games, the nuances of coverage, how to get open, the people he’s playing against and he has an incredible relationship with Peyton Manning in terms of a symbiosis between the two.”

Polian also believes Manning would be interested in bringing Wayne to Manning’s next team, assuming Manning has a next team.

“Reggie doesn’t run with as much speed and explosion as he once did but he has phenomenal hands,” Polian said.  “He really can set up defensive backs.  When you talk about a team, for example, like the Jets that have plenty of speed but not enough people who can really get open and make plays in clutch situations, particularly from a hands standpoint, Reggie would be a perfect fit there.”

Polian believes that, even if the Colts want to keep Wayne, the cap situation will make it difficult, if not impossible.  So look for Wayne to hit the open market.  And don’t be surprised if he’s reunited with Peyton Manning.

I thought Polian was fired from the Colts? If so, why is he still in the spot light?

Polian should be ashamed of that team he put together last year, I don’t care who the qb is no one player should make that big of a difference, a 10+ win team to 2 wins, because Peyton was hurt its ridiculous and he needs to just shut his yap.

As a Pats fan, I found his continued digs at my team funny as always. He said the Pats survived losing TB because UNLIKE the 11 Colts they had a GREAT DEFENSE (his exact words) and didn’t have injuries. Yes I must have missed that epic () 08 Pats defense or the lack of injuries they had elsewhere. He’d DIE before he credited them with handling anything better than he has. It’s hilarious. :D

The Jets? Sanchez can’t even get the ball consistently to his own lesser-talented WR’s?
Yeah…Reggie would be really happy there.

Wayne would love to finish up his career out in the desert opposite Fitz. Hell might just have a familiar face throwing him the ball out there too!!!

Sure should look good in Deep Steel Blue!

Can you imagine both Andre Johnson and Reggie Wayne across from each other with best O-line and Foster in the backfield?

As a Texans fan, I’v seen him burn us more times than I can imagine. Especially a few years back when he made a GREAT 1 handed catch in the endzone right in front of me. Unfortunately, that image is burned in my head.

    GO TEXANS!

If Wayne & Manning go to a team as a package deal it would be huge. There are a couple of teams in the league that would be immediate Super Bowl bound – THIS year with these two pieces in place.

    Foolishness.

Remember how well Deon Branch did in Seattle without Brady? Not saying Wayne is Branch (he’s a lot better) but he still should do everything in his power to end up with Peyton. Both benefit by coming as a package deal.

Got a feeling this guy will end up in NE. He responded “who wouldn’t?” when asked during Super Bowl week if he wouldn’t mind playing with the Patriots.
It’s anything but a sure thing but it is a big free agent WR class and if the Patriots make a reasonable offer I think he’ll take it.
