I believe Tony Romo can win a Super Bowl as a quarterback, just not with the Cowboys.

The problem has never been Romo.

Since Romo has been the starter the problems with the Cowboys start and end with:
- Execution
- Penalties
- Playcalling
- Leadership
- Accountability
- Talent evaluation

Romo can fix a few of those things as they relate to his play, but look at the other 52 guys that are put on the field with him.

I love the excuses the cowpies give for not getting to the SB.They never mention that they suck.
Pretty boy [romo] is only as good as Eli in your dreams.I give Jones credit for trying to work with troubled athletes, but WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING ON THE FIELD? He should fire his head coach and take over the job. Then after 3 years of going 0-16, he should fire himself and his son[ for allowing him to coach]. Then maybe yall will win again.If he dont want to coach, but on the pads and be part of the team.
Its all about him and making money.

And please don’t let the Giants defense aka Eli Manning’s saviors mask that Eli Manning still has flaws. Eli Manning did a great job on the LAST drive in the 4th quarter, but those drives before he played like crap and the defense kept it close all the way till the end. Eli is like a reverse LeBron James, at the end is when he turns it on. Other than that, he’s so-so. Not elite, not bad.

dopesimms’ comment might be one of the dumbest I’ve ever read and it’s typical Cowboy delusion. Yeah, like Brady wasn’t moving up and down the field. Welker catches that ball and it’s all over. Eli then seizes the moment with a jaw dropping throw to Manningham that takes GUTS and talent to even attempt… in the freaking SB no less. Romo NEVER makes a throw like that. Don’t pretend like he would.

Of COURSE he can win a Super Bowl. When people say that X coach or X player “will NEVER win a Super Bowl” it’s one of the most absurd things I’ve ever heard. There’s no Super Bowl gene. It’s dependent on so many more things than one guy.

Barry Switzer won a Super Bowl.
Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl.

Stop romanticizing this as if Super Bowl rings are reserved for some kind of special touched-by-God gladiator class.

First off Romos a big play gunslinger and a precision athlete. Look up the stats and you’ll see romos efficiency and 4th quarter stats are amongst the best in the league. Eli played out of his mind in the 4th quarter this year but was the same one-step behind, bad descision, goof ball qb in the first 3 quarters and couldn’t beat the skins….

Romos not the problem in Dallas, it’s so obvious to see ALL of the secondary and lack of pass rush is is where all the problems are and changes need to be made.

Romo’s not the problem. If you can’t see that, you don’t watch or understand football.

Jerry’s thinking trumps Stephen’s thinking and Jerry thinks Eli was the difference between Dallas and New York.

Jones said ” He’s got to be a leader and he’s got to pull those guys in.”

So Hatcher AND Stephen think Romo’s not a leader. How do the cowboys think they’ll win a superbowl. Guys don’t just suddenly become leaders.

Love the way you a’all are bashing Romo, But besides the clear obvious Payton Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Brady, and Rivers. Whos better?!?! HE has a career QB rating of 96.9 Completion Percentage of 64.5 149 career td’s to only 72 int’s and has thrown over 20,ooo yards in 6 years. And 2010 was a wash because he only played 6 games and in 08 he only played 13. So who’s better than him. By the way for all of you that’s quick to bash Jerry, Who drafted Ware, Witten, Akiman, Smith, Irvin, Etc.??? IF you think he doesnt know football check out his Bio. I think you all should do some research instead of listening to the media, before running off at the mouth about things you have no clue about……

I’m not impressed with the “silver spoon”; trust-baby, executive vice president ! What does he know about professional football other than what has been hand-fed to him ??? Romo needs to be consistent, healthy receivers and a stronger defense. If he can’t be consistent then bring in the next guy. If the Skin’s draft RGIII then the Cowboys will drop to # 3 in the conference.

Romo had a very good year and put Dallas in position to win games that they lost. The Cowboys should have been in the playoffs, but the defense and bad playcalling by Garrett was their downfall. Trent Dilfer won a SB and Grossman got to one, so I think it is definitely possible that he can win one, but they need to address their CBs, S, depth at LB and add a rushing DE (or put Ratliff at DE and get a big DT, if they stay in the 3-4.) It would also help if Austin played more than 8 games and the team would stay healthy.

You folks (most of you, ironically, fans of teams with sub-par QBs) can hate on Romo all you want, but he hasn’t had a defense that can stop people when necessary (note the first NY Giants game when they game up 14 points in four minutes).

Kid makes things happen, and is the primary reason Dallas has been even remotely competitive.

That said, hopefully Jones jumps on signing his replacement sooner rather than later, as he’s not getting any younger.

Dallas has to with the NFC East before Romo can have a chance at a Super Bowl.

It’s going to another tough year with the Eagles and the Giants both being good. Dallas also play the NFC South and the AFC North. Many tough games, so I doubt there will be a wildcard out of the NFC East.

The Giants have it slightly worse playing the Packers and the 49ers.

10-6 will win the division or maybe even 9-7 again.

The winner of the division will be battle tested like the Giants were this year so they will have a decent chance in the playoffs.

Look at the stats fellas. Romo had his bset season ever and he is the guy for 3 more years minimum. Jer is the owner and does not make any of is decision w/o consulting his scouts and coaches. He is not Al davis God rest his soul.

If they are sticking with Romo for a few more years it’s a safe assumption they wno’t be winning any big games.

Oh well, just a poorly run franchise at this point from the perspective of putting together a winning team.

At least they finally got their acts together and drafted a left tackle about 6 years after they should have. So if thats the trend, maybe 6 years form now they’ll draft a guy with real potential at QB.

Is Romo as good as Manning, Brees, or Brady? No. but he is at least as good as Phillip Rivers, Matt Stafford, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, and better than probably more than half the starters in the NFL. But it takes more than a QB…As a matter of fact, through all the rule changes to accentuate the passing game and big plays and scoring, I think the NFL will slowly in the next several years return to more of a ball control style simply to take pressure off the QB and improve chances for success for the teams that don’t have the “All-World QB”, simply because that Tom Brady/Peyton Manning/Aaron Rodgers prototype is so hard to find. Time will tell………
Anyhow, what the hell am I being nice to that g-damn Cowboy for!!??Naw, he sucks and will choke every time!!!!

Eli Manning just won a Superbowl with the league’s bottom ranked running game and possibly 2 of the worst OT’s in the playoffs. He was under more pressure from the Patriots defensive front than Brady was from the Giants.

Think about that before you get all, “if we had a team like the Giants” crap.

Romo is a more athletic version of Sexy Rexy Grossman…just when you need him to make a play he chokes…more importantly cowboy fans have you noticed last couple years Romo has been injury prone??? That doesn’t look good especially since he’s getting older the injuries will take away what was once an attribute his escapability…let’s see broken hand, broken ribs and punctured lungs, broken collarbone etc., what will it be this year and how many games will he be lost for???

Does anybody ever think about how the guy can be a scratch golfer??? The only thing I can come up with is that he is spending waaaay to much time on the golf course and not enough throwing out patterns from the money zone. Please dont tell me what a great athlete he is because he is right up there with some of the greatest golfers in the world and those guys work at it EVERY DAY…
