I hate to see Manningham leave because the trio of he, Nicks, and Cruz are unselfish, support each other, and work well with Eli. That being said, if a team offers him $5million a year it probably doesn’t make any sense to match it, given the salary cap situation. Still, every year we seem to hit a stretch where a wide receiver or two gets dinged up and with the top two pass catching tight ends out until mid-season it would be a shame to see the Giant passing game as non-explosive as it was when Plax went out in ’08. The team has to continue to play to its strengths.

Thanks Mario for the memories and good luck in FA. While he isn’t a true #1 type of guy that can take over a game, he is a solid #2. We got good value for the last pick in the 3rd round from Mario.
He was the 12th WR picked. Of which the only WR picked before him that might be better would be Jordy Nelson or D Jackson(I just threw up in my month a little).

The Redskins make the most sense. Given than Washington owned the Giants last year, sweeping the NFL champs in their two regular-season games, the Redskins could soon own at least one piece of that team.

Gotta love the know-nothings comparing the overall careers of Mario and Tyree based on one similarities of one catch. Tyree came into the NFL as a 6th rd special teamer. Mario was a 1st round talent that dropped to the 3rd b/c of character. If any of you dopes watched a morsel of the Giants’ games that I have, you’d know that Mario is a big play guy. Its a shame you only saw that one catch in the SB. He made about a dozen more like it during the reg season. Mario has No.1 in him if he goes to a team with a halfway decent QB.

The Giants didn’t take them as a serious threat either time and paid the price for it. Why would they? Giants swept them in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Skins were motivated and due for some wins after being constantly owned by the Giants for years. Just because the Skins swept them this year doesn’t mean they own them. More like they finally got themselves out of being owned.

all u giants fans r crazy. if not for mario, then u dont have a ring. eli isnt any good, he just has good recievers. mario is just as good as cruz is. Mario normally has the #1 or #2 db on him at times. who made the game winning td catch against SF…..um Mariooooo. Who made the sickest catch in the super bowl history….. Mario. Mario should have been a first round pick, way before Devon Thomas(wr from mich state, where mario went to michigan and had way better career) but mario smoked weed. Mario can make plays with the best of them. Lets stop thinking ELI manning is some kind of great qb, look at his wrs here. Especially in the super bowl going up against that terrible New England secondary. Ill take him on detroit and u guys can sign burleson.

It’s not so much the caliber CBs that he will now be facing, he had 900 yards in 2010 as a very serviceable WR2, the hardest part for MM is going to be picking up a new offense that is going to really limit his game.. not the brightest kid.

I like Mario and would hate to see him go because his best years are definitely in front of him. I think he is what 25/26 yrs old but I have confidence that Jerry Reese will make him a “responsible” offer just like he did to Boss and Steve Smith. If we lose Mario and Steve Smith can prove he is over the injury I might even make him an offer.

That being said I’ll take a Super Bowl win every year if it means losing to the skins twice a year.

Know what’s worse than losing to the dreadful skins twice? Being another NFC East team fan sitting at home actually believing you could have won it all cause you swept the champs. If only…

That being said MM is a number 2 AT BEST. As someone else said, this guy is responsible for a lot of miscommunication. Has a penchant for being out of bounds on sideline catches as well. Has everyone forgotten the big play that wasn’t in the Super Bowl? Happened on the drive prior to MMs catch. He was out of bounds and the announcers detailed his problems with spacing (which every Giant fan already knew about).

#2 at best.

Motivated on the Redskins to prove his value to the Giants? What have you read anywhere that says Mario feels that he has been “disrespected” by the Giants? If he leaves NY, it is for 2 reasons:
1 – He has his ring
2 – He wants to get paid
There will be no motivation for him to prove anything to the Giants. I am going to assume that they will make him an offer (probably too low for what he wants), and he will explore his options in FA.

Can’t fault a man for trying to get paid and maximize his money, though. Someone will pay him more than he’s worth to the Giants. He made a great catch, but he is replaceable. He was lucky he didn’t blow that catch like he did earlier in the game when he went OB on the play. At least that time he ran a better route.

This is the new David Tyree.

Comparisons:

1.) Both were respectively the best and #1 receiver of their colleges.

2.) Both had disappointing starts to their career. (David Tyree was a little less of a disappointment cause he may have been the best at his college, but no where near an elite receiver in his draft.)

3.) Both made the drive saving amazing catch in the Superbowl even though they didn’t do much of anything before that catch.

4.) Both will get an over hyped rating of 99 Spectacular Catch in Madden.

Manningham will do a little more than Tyree because David Tyree is absolute garbage and Manningham is a little productive. But he’s no big deal in the Free Agency

I think that Manningham is a good reciever and is on the verge to being a 70 catch a year player and around 1000 yards per season. He’ll see the field with almost any team.

To be a # 1 you need to be able to consistently catch the ball and run good pass routes, of which he does neither. He is definitely a 3rd option guy…

We got stiffs but we also got stiffed because 9er coaches made the rare miscalculation Manningham wasn’t good enuff to beat us. I can see why though. MM seems like an up-and-down kinda guy. He played 2010 like a contract year (65% catch-rate, 5.7 YAC). This year 51%, 2.6 — unless injuries were a factor. I’d include the 9ers on the sense-list if the price is right, i.e, $5-$7m per.

Thing is Nicks and Cruz have far better chemistry with Eli than Maio. 75% of the time if there is miscommunication between Eli and a receiver it was Mario. But I’m sure his agent will turn one big play into a big payday.

A few months ago I thought he’d be a good fit for the Jets but after this run his stock probably increased a bit. He’s very inconsistent and bobbles far too many passes. He was a huge reason Eli had ~26 interceptions in 2010.

Most I think he’s worth is 2m/yr.
