APOn Thursday, mixed signals came from Panthers coach Ron Rivera and G.M. Marty Hurney on the question of whether tight end Jeremy Shockey will be retiring.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Shockey isn’t calling it quits. The source specifically said Shockey will be playing next year, and that there’s “no chance” he’ll retire.
Shockey, a 10-year veteran, has played for the Giants, Saints, and Panthers. He’ll be a free agent on March 13.

Shockeying news! You mean we won’t have someone celebrating, like they won the Superbowl, after making a 4 yard catch?
It’s a must we resign him.
More like a 5 year veteran when you consider games he’s been healthy enough to play in.
who wants this clown in their locker room?
Oh sorry to hear this sad news.
Shockey is retiring.
Why is this guy even in the news??? When’s the last time he did anything…. at all???
He isn’t retiring yet?
Prediction: he’s not coming back to the Panthers, either.
Right … like he was making that money anywhere else.
@greatdanton77 – No, we’ll still have Victor Cruz in the league to handle those celebrations…
Another athlete who has made no plans for after football. He should have retired 2 years ago. They just never think it will end.
When Jeremy Shockey came into the league, he looked like he was going to be one of the greats at his position. But bad attitude, injuries, and a lack of work ethic derailed him and he’s been below average ever since. He’d rather party on South Beach then put in the work and it’s why he is what he is now. I mean at a low price, he can still give you a game here and there but as far as having an impact week in and week out, it’s been a while since he’s been able to do that!
Here we have an aging player with a big mouth, extra weight, and fading tattoos. 2 words: League minimum. If that.
I don’t think anyone will sign him again.
He’s past his prime and his better days are behind him.
b7p19—-Your either a fan of another NFC East team or the Patriots and you cant handle the fact that Victor Cruz is just good! He does a salsa dance…how is that over the top? Because hes just good at dancing as well and it looks flashy?
Oh Yeah and your comment regarding him celebrating everytime like he won the superbowl!
If you havent saw the Commercials!
New York Giants Fans your team has won the Superbowl!!
ENOUGH Said….
Giants’ fan here who’ll take him back in a second. He still blocks like a mad man and lord knows that our running game has suffered ever since he left. Now that Manning is a “made man”, he’ll have to defer to Eli. We lost both TEs in the Supe and he is perfect no-risk stop-gap at this point. Hell, if Mario goes, get Plax back too.
If this guy had played in any city other than New York, you never would have heard his name, outside of being one of the biggest BUSTS of all time.
Bad attitude, only ever cared about his numbers and a guy who once he got paid, never worked again.
The NFL will be a better place once this egomaniac is gone.
Shockey will get a ring with the Panthers within the next 2 years.
He did some good things last year. He’s still solid as a number 2 TE, but that’s about it. Gregg Olsen was better by far.
It’s hard to live up to your rookie year.
to the giants fan who wants shockey and plax back r u f*cking kidding? why not just say u want tiki back and really destroy eli and the morale of the locker room
Every time I see Jeremy Shockey or just hear his name…. ‘TRAILER PARK’ flashes into my brain.
